I nolonger have a french road bike so the Bianchi will have to accept it, atleast now I know what this other leather seat is, it's all dryed out but it looks the same as the like new one but it says Ideale on the sides. youd think they where the same though so yeah Bim is Ideale. i'm gonna try soaking the Ideale one and see if it will have some life left in it.

Wow, that's the deal of the year. Congratulations. I bet it's only a teeny bit heavier than a PX10.

I have ŽoldŽBiopace and Biopace II, and the newer ones are less square.
From another site:

The shape of BioPace get's more eccentric as the rings get smaller, This
is because smaller rings are usually used when the going gets tougher
(hills, for example) and therefore the irregularity of leg motion
increases, so the irregularity of the ring does so also to compensate.

I found six bikes in the garbage where I live tonight this is one of them, not sure what a Batavus is. Looks fairly neat though.

Batavus is a Dutch maker that is better known for making roadsters than road bikes... it's a pretty low end frame but definately cool.

I stopped by a rarely visited LBS today to see my friend who was working there and the ex-owner who now just works as a mechanic gave me some TA dust caps and a Suzue cartridge bearing freewheel hub in beautiful shape.

Don't know what I will do with the TA dust caps but that hub is a nice one... it might just go into the lady's Peugeot with a new rim.

This c. 87 Shogun 300 was picked out of the trash curbside by the PO, so I bought it at a good flippable price.

"Tange 900" double butted, nice alloy wheels, and Shimano's Z-group.

- MAJOR cosmetic clean-up, replaced pedals and brake levers, plus (the usual) new tires/cables/housings/saddle/brake shoes/chain/freewheel/bike ribbon and bearings.

Thanks Sixty fiver - You can be sure that if I planned on keeping it, they'd be gone- (along with the nuts on the rear axle!) ... they seem so anachronistic on a bike with such a nice frame.

I received a 1972 Campus Green Schwinn Varsity from a co worker. All parts are original even came with the light and generator. He even gave me the original owner's manual to it. Looks like I'll have to clean off some rust and then oil her up. What are these worth?

^Free is about right.

You can use the website below to check to see what similar bikes are going for. I just picked up a 1970 Varsity that needs some TLC. These things are indestructable, and easy to work on...but not that easy to pedal (but hopefully easy to peddle if you are thinking of selling...little pun there).

If the paint and chrome is pristine, you'd be lucky to get $150 in a good market. NYC/SF/Portland might be a little better. If you have any upright bars lying around it might be worth your while to swap them out and market it as a cruiser. These bikes are heavy as hell, but they do have the 'classic' paint and some casual riders like that.

There was a guy here on SF Craigs that was looking for a pristine green Varsity. I'm not seeing his post anymore.

Well, I was bummed after missing a decent Raleigh MTB this afternoon at my favorite thrift store. Its not that I like them, but at T/S pricing, there's good flip equity in them. Another shopper grabbed it just as I was walking in the door. Damn.... So my wife went back an hour later and picked up a really clean 1983 Centurion Accordo. Alloy rims, Champion 5 cromoly frame, decent Suntour AR components, everything else is really low end for sure. But at a T/S price, I am happy to get it. It even came with a new replacement brake cable and a good cable lock. Bikes don't last long at this thrift store, even the crap sells in about a day. The decent or better stuff typically lasts a couple of minutes.

Great looking bike, I just picked up a 300 as well. Did you repaint it?

Ouch! You might check with Calfee to see if they can fix it. I doubt it's cheap but since it's sort of an heirloom, it might be worth it to you.

I'd relegate it to wall art, personally. Just clean it off, and get some nice looking, or very subtle, hooks. It'll cost a lot to fix it, and it likely won't look the same afterwards.

And it needs an alloy micro adjust seat post.

Well, it was riding gear day at my favorite thrift store. I scored three jerseys (my size!), a Canari, a Pearl Izumi, and a Gary Fisher. I also picked up a pair of Alpenstar road shoes (not my size), with speedplay cleats. And it was senior day, 25% off.

Nice find Bill, I really dig that Gary Fisher jersey!
