As of today that ol' white bike is sitting in my living room. Much better condition than it looks, except the saddle might be beyond repair )'8 Oh and it fits perfectly which is a huge bonus!

OK, not bike related, but I like vintage tools as well. Picked up this old Cornwell rolling cabinet at Salvation Army.
Bike content: I will be transferring most of my bike hand tools to this box...... Once I clean it up of course.

I hauled this Spain built Torrat road bike out of the trash a few days ago and got her as roadworthy as I could. Rides super nice, mighty glad I saved it. It has components I've never dealt with...... Simplex Derailleurs and crank, it shifts beautifully, are Simplex high end components? Cheap? I'm not normally a road bike guy, more into singlespeed heavyweights so please excuse my ignorance

Simplex are french components. Some work well and some not so well. Look them up here.. https://www.velobase.com/ListComponen...4-b67bf49e69ff

looks like I found myself a 2006 schwinn voyageur sport, frame has a 'large' sticker on it.

this is 'as found' condition, would you fix it? I grabbed it mainly for the front fork and suspension seat post, with hopes they'll fit my brother in laws `90's trek 880 mountain bike. But since it's a large frame hybrid/commuter bike, I might clean it up and ride it to work a few times to see if I like it better than my road bike?

Between the high failure rate of these derailleurs and the much better stuff coming from japan in the early 70's it was pretty much the end for Simplex and other European component makers like Sachs and Huret which consolidated and then were bought by SRAM.
From a functional point of view the Prestige shifts very nicely and is rather lightweight and later models got a little more steel... the all plastic versions are quite rare. One of the weak spots is the guide and tension pulleys which may be brittle after 30-40 years and these can be replaced with Suntour pulleys which are better and do not have the same tendency to crack / break.

You've got that guy in Milpitas that only sells small bikes. It already has the white seat and bar tape. I hardly ever see him ask under 500. It would be a quick flip to him.

hmm not sure what guy you're talking about.. this guy? https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bik/2474488239.html
i'm pretty sure I'll be able to sell it for $300 or so just will need to be patient. the original seller posted the bike up for $400 a few weeks ago but didnt include a pic. they lowered their price to $200 because they are moving.. i actually picked it up right before it went into storage

Found this Motobecane at the Dump three days ago and could not resist the urge to clean and build the bike. Great shape, very vintage looking and pretty light for a bike of that quality level and vintage - 21lb 12oz with pedals...

I picked up this 'nearly' mint Univega Gran Turismo last night for $30. Just need to squirt some oil on the chain, and ride...
Someone may have left it outside for a couple of days. It looks to be early 80s material. BTW, what is this hoop for. Only thing I can come up with, is to keep the panniers from hitting the cable?

The frame is actually in pretty decent shape, the seat post isn't stuck, and the stem is only mildly froze up.
