Yeah, they're big- ill have to check again if there are any reasonably sized frames in there. Headed out today or tomorrow.
I believe these frames are the personal rides of Jim Black, the owner of the shop, general bike weirdo (in the best way). Nobody's seen him around here for about 20 years.

Ooh sweet, tall frames. That's quite the find. Too bad they're not in better shape. And what do you mean reasonably sized? 25" is a perfectly reasonable size. 27" is a bit big, but 25" is like perfect for me and I'm not that large. Well, not in height anyway. Large around is a different story. That's definitely me.
He's not buried somewhere under that pile is he?

This was the Free Dump week in Thunder Bay. Actually, last week was free dumping and I managed to grab close to 70 bicycles. All but two went to Bicycles for Humanity. The two I kept? A somewhat ratty Falcon San Romer and this whateveritis rod brake, chrome lugged wonder that has a pretty nice feel to it when riding. Yup, pumped up the tires and ride away. Everything on the rod brake jobbie works perfectly, except for some brake shudder on the front brake...

Canadians! Just picked this Mikado Sportster up for $25. It's definitely an entry level model but the decals are in excellent shape and I like the chromed fork. I tried looking for more information and it seems on par with the Nishiki Sport. I might try building up my first fixie with this one.

Bikes: they change so much I'm tired of updating this
i threw a couple scrap frames out by the alley for the scrap guy. he usually trolls the alleys every couple days. when he pulled up i noticed drop bars in the back of the truck. ended up being a complete all original and in very nice condition motobecane mirage. i know these are low quality bikes, but man this thing is nice. its my size but dont think im gonna hang on to it. its all apart right now getting a overhaul and new cables. i'll post some pics when finished.

Saturday I went to a Police auction, & although 98% of it was beach cruisers ( some nice one's at that, but they were paying $100 for clean Huffy's ) I did manage to score two nice bikes & one beater for a decent amount. First is a 1962 Schwinn Typhoon straight bar, lots O rust, can be ridden as is, Painted rims are painted again red,the original white with black stripe rims look clean under poor pealing red paint.
Second bike was what I really wanted as soon as I checked it out, a 1991 Schwinn Paramount Series 70 PDG mountain bike with most of it's original parts, full XT ( Originally posted in Vintage Mountain bikes thread, post# 3416 to 3423 ). It's weathered & needs most of the hardware replaced but will clean up nice after a total clean, polish & service. I have most of the hardware in stainless for it already & I am waiting for some Jagwire cables to come in I ordered & a set of grips.
I also got a 5 bike display rack from my boss who was going to scrap it that I am hoping to do something with.
Glenn

Oh, they're all 1" for sure. I'm headed back out there this week, and I'll grab a more representative sample. I'll be in touch.

It looks to be an 84 which would be the same year as my Fuji Club. I find it interesting that it uses the Suntour Mountech rear derailleur, or it should be using it, as my 85 Schwinn Le Tour Luxe, but your Fuji went with the Suntour Le Tech instead of staying with the Mountech like Schwinn chose to do; not sure what the difference is between the two but they look very similar and weighed the same. Supposedly the rear Mountech had issues where it would foul up if it got dirty, so simply keep it clean and it'll work fine, I haven't had any issues with mine; but the derailleur does shift a wide range of gears found on touring bikes very quickly and positive. And your's comes with 3 sets of bottle holders, for some reason the Schwinn I have did not so I had to add one on the underside of the down tube using a Minoura bracket. And you have the same Gran Comp 960 canti brakes as my Schwinn; if you find the brakes to be stiff new modern teflon cables helped mine a lot, as well as oiling the pivots to a much smaller degree.
Anyway nice fine. Congrats again.

I saw that FUJI V yesterday and you made quick work of it, the author had already deleted it. Where was it at?

I had to save this from being scrapped whether it deserved it or not. 1983 Bianchi Grizzly. There isn't much info on the Internet about this, which is probably Bianchi's earliest ATB. It's in horrible shape, but for $5 I couldn't pass over the bullmoose bars and 980 cantis. The seatpost is stuck, the BB is crunchy, etc. Nice crank.

Bikes: enough bikes to qualify for Hoarders......
Pacifica. I just had good timing, and offered to Paypal the money up front if needed. It is in fantastic shape and has just been sitting awhile so it will need tires etc.

Two more garage sale finds. Its been a good year so far for garage sales. The Trek has a stuck seat post (naturally), and needs a lot of love. The Diamondback is in a lot better shape.
I'll be breaking out the Kroil this afternoon.
