Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
1984 Bianchi Limited I bought yesterday:

If it looks a little familiar to you, it's the one I sold in May for $220. Buyer is leaving town tomorrow; needed to unload it fast. Goes back up on CL next week; anyone interested?

Pulled one from next to the dumpster today. Not sure what it is, frame was stripped down and rusted. Old roadie lugged steel frame, japanese headset, 3 piece steel cranks, 27 inch wheels. Been converted to single speed, good tires, very nice but dirty lightweight KMC chain. It needs wd 40 and steel wool then some flitz on the frame and forks, needed brakes, bearings will get serviced and wheels trued. Rode good on a test ride before major work though.
Sigg Tourist camp kit with a SVEA 123 stove for $ 25.00... they still make the SVEA stove with a small cup but Sigg no longer makes the rather excellent camp kit for the stove.

On this side of the pond white gas is easy to find, I still use a vintage coleman stove and lantern for vehicular travels and this kit will work for bike touring.

I got this Paris Sport out of a pile that was going to become scrap metal this week, you can see it here

I crossed the border into Sarnia last month and checked out a Trek dealer. As soon as walked in the doors there was a brand new Marinoni built up with Campy Centaur. I think it was right about two grand. Really nice looking bike and decent price I thought.

I saw this unused Cateye yesterday and couldn't resist as it has the RPM sensor which the other NOS Cateye I bought a couple of years ago lacked. I guess I'll sell that one.
I'm guessing people often got them as gifts and upon opening them, realized installing them, fitting the cables and figuring the wheel circumference wasn't worth it.

Here is my $3 bike that I picked up recently. The bike was free and I spent $3 for some parts. I completely broke it down and rebuilt it. It is an '88 Specialized Rockhopper.

I saved some parts from being recycled this week. I went to the local thrift shop to look at bikes. I asked if they had any parts. The guy old me there was a pile out back that was probably heading to recycle. I followed him outside and there was a stash of wheels, tires, and plastic bins with every part that it takes to build a bike. Most of the stuff was junk or of little value, but I snatched up five good wheels including two Mavic Open rims, one laced to a Record hub and one to Dura Ace. I got four plastic bins of pedals, BB's and shifters with a few odds 'n ends mixed in. This stuff was silly cheap, but I am really happy that it will not get recycled.

^Wow, DA and Record wheels on the way to the furnace? Nice catch. I never thought about asking for parts out back. Post a photo.
