Just picked up this Holdsworth Cyclone, probably an early 1970s. Too small for me, so this will have to move to a new home.
50cm frame Reynolds 531with Campagnolo dropouts Suze high flange hubs 27” rims convex style SR Crankset SR pedals Toeclips with "Holdsworth Campagnolo" straps. Campagnolo shifters Campagnolo FD Suntour V RD Ideale saddle Weinmann centerpulls and levers GB stem Unknown handlebars Unknown headset Bluemel fenders As purchased https://dl.dropbox.com/s/2dexref6m26..._1191.jpg?dl=0 After 15 minute wash and degrease https://dl.dropbox.com/s/i96klfq79n1..._1193.jpg?dl=0 |
Came home from work today to find this in front of my garage, Mr. Haney dropped it off for me. Tires are old but still have the nubs on them and are "usable" and everything works like it should. Nothing great but not bad for $10. Didn't recognize the color at first, thought it was more of a Robin's Egg Blue but after I wiped a few spots clean I saw it was the standard blue.

I picked up this '86 Bridgestone Mile 112 today. The CL stated "2 men's bikes $50" with no pictures. I contacted the seller and she sent me pictures of the Bridgestone and a Gitane. I passed on the Gitane. Here is a picture she sent me.

I purchased a ladies Raleigh Sport vicariously through a friend. I may not see the bike until Christmas, unless I get down to Richmond before then. She is YAR (yet another Raleigh), and for $25, I could not let it pass.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=484624 It seems that lately road bikes are leaving the cave, and 3 speeds are moving in. Gotta love that saddle. |

I tried to save one, but was unable it broke my heart! Yesterday was trash day, and metal scrappers roam the area looking for metal scrap. I was heading to the grocery store and was following a scrapper with a bike at the top of the heap of stuff in his pickup. When we got to a light, I was horrified to see that the bike was a very good condition 80's Specialized Rockhopper in quite good shape (from what I could see). I tried to remember his number but was unable, and I feel sorry for that bike being cut into scrap. Or maybe he realized he had something worth selling rather than selling by the pound :(

Got it scrubbed up and it IS kind of a pearl Robin's Egg Blue. It washed up really nice, tires, bar tape and brake pads are on the way, that's all it really needs other than a saddle and a new home and the saddle I have.

It wasn't a high end bike though, the brake calipers are steel and are rusting, which the bike frame apparently has some issues with rust as well. It wasn't taken care of, and it probably weighs 35 pounds.

Scored a Triumph (Raleigh Sport?) 1973 or so. I bought a early 80's huffy 3 speed ladies bike to convert this to a 3 speed upright bike since I don't own one, everything has drop bars.
I did a little clean up, not shown was I regreased the BB and headset after, so far so good. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5651/...b3a86fbc_c.jpg2015-10-27 02.26.29 1 by Ryan Silva, on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5762/...31e8d7d6_c.jpg2015-10-27 02.26.31 1 by Ryan Silva, on Flickr |

I bought a 1985 Cannondale. Giant 63cm frame. Way to big for me. Owner was going to "get rid of this stuff", not sure i he meant he was going to throw it out or what. So, frame is of no use. Its what the frame came with that I am excited about.

So I picked up 1979 Raleigh Grand Prix off of CL for $20. 3 weeks later, this is the result. Its almost complete. Need to put head-badge on somehow. Everything has been taken apart, cleaned, polished and greased. Frame has been powder-coated. New seat and seat post. New bar wrap and brake levers. New tires and cables. What do you all think its worth now? |
