Curious as how the "self gusset" is done where the down tube and head tube meet. Is head bulge-formed perhaps?

Pretty decent GT Timberline at Goodwill yesterday. I'm thinking one of the late 90's mountain bike boom bikes. Well worth the $25 price tag.

Yes the deals at thrift stores have been few and far between recently. They didn't know what this was.

5 dollar Schwinn Continental from a yard sale. It was really rough with broken spokes, steel wheels, curled up plastic seat, etc. I replaced the steal rims with alloy, front derailleur that had been ground clean through by the chain guard, seat, tires and bar tape. Still needs new cables and housings, but as far as I can tell, it was all original.

I've always disliked old Schwinn bikes growing up, but even at this stupid weight it road really smooth on our beat up roads. Even after upgrading to alloy wheels I don't even want to weigh it, haha. Took a short run to the park after adjusting the brakes and derailleurs and I really like the "Continental" bars. Might just take them off and use them on another bike.

Reminds me of the time I help a "superstore" manager discover five newly assembled bikes with the forks backwards. (In Indiana). I have a friend who was an Air Force jet fighter mechanic (retired) who assembled part-time for them. He quit when they informed him they were allowing him eight minutes apiece to put bikes together.

Those are GB handlebars ("Gerry Burgess" -- not the other 'GB' which is "Grand Bois). Quality 'British-made' proper kit!

I've been known to buy a Continental, grab the bars, and donate the rest to the co-op. I'm currently using a set on my dropbar MTB conversion, and I love them too. And, they take bar end shifters. You did great!

Those GB bars are the only Rando bars I keep around. They are sitting on my Old Dawes Galaxy right now.

Damn I already wrapped them and have this up for sale hoping to buy an 84 trek 520 tourer. Knew I should have taken them off first, but I wanted to try them out on the bike as it was intended. Maybe another will come around soon. That are super comfortable on the drops but I find myself riding on the hoods a lot.

They would be a perfect intro to drop bar for someone coming off of a MTB.

Thanks for the info on those bars though. I'll probably let this one go and keep an eye out for another, or is this the holy grail of bars? These were really clean and I took it for another spin to the store tonight, wow they are comfortable and not too low! If I had another set of bars laying around I'd swap them out tonight, but already have a buyer for this bike. Should go for enough so I can afford the 520 Trek.

My $25 catch. Pretty good condition and looks like it was garaged all it's life. No rust, hardly any scratches.
"Sadly" it's my size and I'm already overflowing with my herd.

So, I've been wanting a folding bike for ages. Don't know why but I love the idea of having a bike in the trunk of my car ready for a quick adventure in the beautiful county where I live. Last week, that little dream of mine became a reality...



I found a 1989 Peugeot Round-A-Bout (P20) on CL in decent condition and made a deal.











French bike made in Italy.








Its a little rough but I'm looking forward to doing a restoration on this little beauty. It will need all new cables and the SA hub will need an overhaul. I also need to see about servicing or replacing the seat tube collar, stem collar and the folding mechanism on the frame. But I love a challenge.

I can't think of anything better than having a Peugeot P20 to work on. Except maybe...

Picked up a 93 Specialized Allez Pro with full 600 Tri-color including hubs, and a 77 Puch Marco Polo with the double butted Reynolds 531 for the cost of a nice dinner
