"Barn Fresh" as they say; covered in dust. This Trek 620 (1985) was put out in the trash near my home. I spotted it while out on a ride.
Score. Trek 620 with Shimano 600 triple, Matrix wheels, Dia Compe cantis, Huret shifters, Huret RD, Stronglight headset. Original handlebars and brake lever are missing.

WOW!! That sir, is one heck of a score! Who bins a classic touring bike?! From TREK?!!

I wonder if the boss will even allow that sign in the house.? I'll have to point out that it's an antique and see if that works......

Came across this ad.....had to go give it a look.....it was real....a real Gilmour with all Campy SR and NR....even the seatpost and wheelset was all campy....I took it home of course

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5a4884dc1e.png

Put on a new chain, new Vittoria Rubinos....and it was good to go....fits me like a glove....

So that motivated me a bit to keep looking.....and a week later.....and another 100 bucks.....a 1989 Tempo, absolutely mint just like in the showroom. Had to put new tubes in the factory original tires....but that was it....spent its life indoors, and it sure shows.

Not the typical bike in this thread, but a guy I work with came in today and said he had a bike for me in his truck. So this is the bike. After looking at it for a bit in the garage I think I’m going to look for a skeleton to put on it to greet the kiddos on Halloween.

madpogue 10-08-18 06:52 PM

^^^^^^^ Required posting here - https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...red-bikes.html - before and after the skeletonization, if possible.

Actually, a headless dude ready to toss a pumpkin (a la Ichabod Crane) might be more appropriate.

Wow! This and a mint Tempo each for benji? I can't wait to see the goal that makes your month a hat trick! :thumb:

jmead11france 10-09-18 11:41 AM

Okay, one more now....a Chesini, panotgraphed in many areas......missing front wheel though, for 80 bucks. I have no idea the model or the year, but has Super Record RD, NR FD, Modolo Sporting brakeset, Rino cranks and seastpost, 3TTT bars and panto stem, Panto Campy shifters....needs paint, but I think it might be worth doing this one over.....not going to part it out. Anybody have any idea of the year and model....made out of Columbus Zeta....

Just saw this! As a former 1989 Tempo owner (like this one, but 24"), I heartily approve of this bike! So glad you found it. This is the only year it came with a 27.2mm seat post--a recipient of continual improvement. I had to paint my front fork black due to extreme paint issues, but luckily the rest of the bike was fine. I miss it as it was so early in my Real Road Bike Journey over four/five years ago (many bikes since then). Congrats on a great and great riding bike!

Are you in North America?
What rear rim and hub is it? I might have one you can have.

It has a miche hub and what appears to be a Fiamme red label sew up rim....with no label. Rear quick release handle is even panto's Chesini. Not sure what I will do about wheels for sure....but I will be hunting for a match for sure....

I purchased an 820 Antelope back in 1991 brand new and still love it. A little heavy, but very solid bikes. Nice pick up.

Nice Score! A lugged steel Sirrus or Allez in my size is on my list. I found a deal on a 56cm 1992 Allez this spring but could not make it fit so I will keep looking for a 58.

Way too much work, but it turned out to be a nice rider. I was looking at a beat DiamondBack at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago when I spotted this buried in a hedge. Rusted, rotted, falling apart. They tried to give it to me but I dropped 5 bucks on the table on the way out. 86" MB2. Seatpost and rear wheel had been replaced.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f5a6246134.jpg

I just picked a Schwinn World Tour out of a dumpster. Lady's model, early 80's, could be a good grocery bike. Upright handlebar, fenders, six speed double ("twelve speed").

It is complete, and basically in good condition, but does need some work. Tires hold air.

Free to a good home if you pick up in zip 10016 (midtown Manhattan).

Photos to follow....

Looks like a too-short bottom bracket spindle, Chuck ? Or some dope installed it backwards. good luck,,,

Nice find! I have the twin in a 59-60cm that I bought from a friend that got it in a storage locker deal. I have my Centurion up for sale and I am keeping the B&W Nishiki. Not sure how to build yet, have a lot of 105 9spd stuff and a nice set of wheels that would work but also have a Accushift long cage Cyclone set up with bar end shifters I can use, both setups are for a triple but I lack a good 130 triple road crank, I have plenty of 110 triples but like the looks of 130 road cranks better on a road bike.

This is from one of those listings that is blurry but you can make out enough to make a call. I was mostly interested in the cockpit and it didn’t disappoint. The bike is a Ross.

Two Jim Blackburn bottle cages for some undecided project and a nice 27.2 Black seatpost for the Volare.

sloar 10-24-18 10:33 PM

This was listed online for $300 for several weeks. I finally messaged the seller and talked him down on his price. Once I saw the bike I turned around and started to leave. When I talked with him he told me the frame was in great condition, no dents or rust. Well it had both, non matching cranks, nutted brakes on a recessed frame and a few other issues. He finally gave me a price I couldn’t resist. I changed the cranks and brakes, new bar tape, cables and a full service. It’s a lower end frame, but still pretty cool. First pic is the ad pic.
