Pas du tout! The mis fits are the abandonments of people powered vehicles for polluting convenience.

16". I had pulled the seatpost to hang from my stand. Previous rider was 5'5". Needs lube and the left shifter has a stuck pawl.

Ooo, my size!

JK, I already have a '95. Good luck with the pawl.

Not saved from the dump, but free!

Someone stopped by the Bike Recyclery garage sale hoping to sell this wheel set, but the host didn't want them. I ask about them and he just gave them to me (I give him a little cash as a thank you).

First Gen high flange Dura Ace hubs with original skewers, 700c Super Champion rims. Dura Ace freewheel would have been the icing on the cake, but I can only get so lucky.

The backyard I drug this out of was someones dump... I did pay 35 for it, and I am not sure if that was a good or bad decision. Might make a thread on it later on since I am building it up to ride and will deal with the painted areas later.
Found the Seat tube repair involved brazing after stripping that section of spray paint.

The bars look "like" nitto track drops, they may be a chromed imitation but if they are it's probably worth thirty five bucks...

I’d love to see what is under the paint everywhere. It could be a cool find that needs rehab.

Likely original Tomaselli grips and big S saddle.

I would be careful with both.

Yes, have a bmx guy drooling over the grips, lol. Deerhead group and a 167.5 flag crank.

I guess you did alright.....You must be kidding, it's a Zunow Aero frame!!!!!!
Really nice save on this one, If mine, I would clean the areas that have primer and paint on them to check condition as mentioned by jdawginsc and repair any issues that you find and then find a good airbrush artist to do a touch-up.....leaving most of the original finish in tact. JMHO
Best, Ben

Bikes: Road ready: 1993 Koga Miyata City Liner Touring Hybrid, 1989 Centurion Sport DLX, "I Blame GP" Bridgestone CB-1. Projects: Yea, I got a problem....

Picked up this Raleigh One Way, in hopes of having a single speed for longer rides. I think it's a 2009 or so and a bit "younger" as well as not my usual tinker toy ..

The sizing is supposed to be right on paper, and it feels ok on the hoods after a little adjustment. Unfortunately something is out of alignment and the bike has a pretty good pull to the left. Hopefully I can make a quick diagnosis, because this is the bike Id like to ride this week.

Getting there ..

Balls...

Bikes: 2002 Mercian Vincitore, 1982 Mercian Colorado, 1976 Puch Royal X, 1973 Raleigh Competition, 1971 Gitane Tour de France and others

The Wednesday before Hurricane Helene showed up, I ran into a long-term cycling associate who has switched over to riding only his gravel bikes. Initially we discussed my purchasing a stash of new-in-plastic Campagnolo parts for a ridiculously low sum; when I touched base with him after the storm he decided to pass on all of his road bikes, tools and parts to me.

This is what I brought home today -

- still sorting through it and it looks like this will be fun. Best of all - his comment was, "If you don't take it, it goes to the dump." Seriously.

I have done pretty much the same thing although I am not quite ready to part with my road bikes and part bins just yet... That is a sweet haul!

I've still got my Glenn's Manual. Read it through cover-to-cover before heading out to Schwinn Factory Service School. It was my "Chilton's" until I bought my first Sutherland's Manual. Love all the photos of early '70s Schwinns being worked on by a guy in white coveralls.

I posted this in the "Are you looking for one of these?" thread and then immediately removed it when I saw it had DC 510 centerpulls. I bought it for the price of the brakes alone, and is the second '82 Trek I bought in two days!

Keeping the brakes and recouping the cost by selling the crankset and some other bits.

1991 Univega Via Carisma. Too big for me but the first thrift store bike I’ve found that was actually ready to ride!

2008 Gary Fisher Tass disc GS from the local Savers thrift store:

Both going up for sale because they’re both the wrong size…

Thrift store coughed up this gem today:

1997 Marin Hawk Hill in very good condition. My size, too!

Now, what to do with it?

upgrade it with 9 speeds-10 speeds xt/xtr and why not mount better hubs and a better fork on it

Thrift store has been good to me this week. Today I picked up a 1991 Schwinn High Plains with the sweet black spiderweb paint for a measly $20:

3530 equals December 19th, 1990. A Wednesday, for what that’s worth….

Regardless of the bottom rung components, a lugged, double butted full cromo frame with horizontal top tube in my size is an awesome score!
