I worked at a shop that would do such fork replacement. We always offered a Tange #2 Cro-moly fork. I thought that was fair.

And, it works!

I'd win some points at my local bike coop for that tape. It has me thinking I could use various yarns and go all out. Inspiration for another project.

Thrift store find. 1997 Gary Fisher Paragon, their 2nd from the top hard tail that year. All original but for the ridiculous bars, stem, pedals and saddle. Missing the bar ends that were oh so popular those days. My size, too!

Don’t know what to do with it beyond installing a nice flat bar, longer, lower stem (for that proper bum up NORBA racer position),some sweet bar ends and a better saddle. Basically reverse the changes that were made to it.

Pics are as found; I think it will clean up beautifully!

I went out for vape juice, and came home with a Surly Cross Check with a bunch of nice parts for $300. Has Paul cantilevers SRAM red full group Cinelli stem and bars etc.

I agree, but that bike was NOT found at a dump and/or picked up for free.

People are straying off the post requirement.

Bikes: A few. Quite a few.

No requirement for bikes be picked up for free, at least from reading the originating post. Just "screamin good deals, and the bikes you've saved from the compactor." I think it's legit.

So you speak for everyone now? I pretty much cannot think of a single bike that I posted on this thread that I got for free or picked out of a dump. I guess I should go delete them all right? $300 for a bike that goes for about 1200 to 1500 used is close enough to free for me. Also I have been a member of this website and pretty much only this page of it for 4 years before this thread was ever started.

Bikes: 1988 Peugeot Jubilee (adorable!), 2005 Fuji Bordeaux (speedy!), 2022 Blix Vika+ (folding!), 2023 Cannondale Quick (so practical!)

Well this is a true trash find, left in the lightly travelled alley with a "free" sign stuck in the spokes. Looks super comfy but a hair big for me and too small for everyone else in the house, probably going to the co-op next week. A (70s I assume?) Sears Ted Williams five speed with shimano eagle drivetrain and serial number HCO548869.

So-weet! I love what I call a "gentlemen's tourer." No need for bags, just a nice cruiser for the day.

You need to quote the poster for them to see a response from you, especially when you ask a question.

Many here see them anyway, many don't.

Those are very good questions. Unfortunately I can not answer. I’ve been looking for the mail order catalog page scans from the day. So far my search is fruitless and futile. What I did find is there is a Blue Ridge Bike Club, and plenty of pictures of the club and their activities. They appear to be a very lively grouping.

This is/was a purchase at the local nonprofit outlet. I’m heading out to pick now, I didn’t want to carry home riding my bike yesterday.

I found an archive of old Performance catalog pictures when I was searching for info on my Parabola. It's probably not be the same year, but it might be useful. Performance catalog pictures

Bimizetti (sp?) maybe? A buddy who worked for them in Chapel Hill had one and he loved to mutter that name rapidly.
