Help Please with a Tange Fork
I am continuing to clean out my parts shed and came across this Tange fork which I can't seem to recall.....
I initially though "Great, maybe somebody w/ a vintage steel MTB would like it..." and then I realized that it also works perfectly for 700C wheels if you install brakes up top rather than using the Canti's....
I thought I pulled it off of a vintage 1985 Koga Miyata MTB but now I honestly can't recall and I dont even know how to title/list this fork...
Was this some sort of dual purpose fork?? Thoughts ??

You can still use the Canti studs with some Paul Moto BMX brakes:

Well Rotharpunc,
I guess that I'll kind of let the cat out of the bag here... I haven't had a true vacation in 7+ years and I am building up a pretty special Bridgestone in the hope of disappearing into the West for 4 weeks on a bike with 1 of our dogs.
I am letting go of a lot of stuff right now on ebay. Mrs Bigwoo says that I can't do my Bridgstone build/vaca until the shed is cleaned out....
Right now my Bridgestone build is several hundred $$ off budget...
Kpug,
Do you think that would work for 650 touring wheels too then...?? 700C wheel fits perfectly on this fork w/ lots of clearance for fenders, but I would have to install a side/center pull brake up top....
I basically have no idea what this fork is intended for, but I guess it's dual purpose....
I don't want to misrepresent this fork when it goes on ebay this weekend...

I don't think it is really dual purpose....I put 700c's on one of my MTBs but I couldn't use the canti bosses. The fit very nicely with clearance for fenders. Id say that fork is for a MTB with 26x? wheels....
With the brakes I mentioned you could use a 650b (584). MTB wheels are 559 so I assume you can run any wheels size between 559 (26x1 through 2.5 or so) and 622 (700c).

I hope I didn't mis-communicate. I can't use 700C w/ the Canti's...
I was just curious so I put a sidepull Shimano 105 front brake through the hole and it grabbed a 700C wheels' braking surface perfectly.....Then I put a long reach caliper w/ raised pads through the hole and that worked perfectly too!
Wondering why Koga did that.... Does that seem weird or is it just because I have never tried this before ?

Just 'cause you have not tried it before.....Again. If someone were to use the brakes I linked to before you could run any wheel size you want between 559 and 622 (26x1-2 something and 700c). I guess it's a moot point concidering you're gonna sell it and not run the Moto brakes to use it as a 650b or 700c or whateva...The fork is for a MTB with 26" wheels.

yes, as above, Ive tried 700c on several MTB frames and they work fine with a caliper brake up top. Please PM me the link to the ebay auction or contact me directly if you want to work something out. I need a new fork for an old MTB I have

Rotharpunc, Will send you a PM w/ the steer tube measurements in a few.... And everybody else, sorry, I wasn't fishin for a sale. This fork honestly just seems odd compared to my Tange GT and Specialized forks....Seems to have a bit more clearance.... Must be in my head or an optical illusion....
