Women. When the guy was building this thing his wife probably thought he'd already had enough beer and wouldn't let him have any more.

$2500 1982 Stumpy. He put a lot of NOS parts on it and basically added up the price of all those bits to come up with his listing price. Also, $250 shipping. Cool bike, just a little unrealistic with the price.

There's a Gitane for sale near me and it has the strangest dropouts I've ever seen. Who made these dropouts?

A quick check at gitaneusa.com reveals that these are called Honeycomb dropouts and I read on the forum they were made by Huret.

Here is a 1976 catalog page...

They're called Huret honeycomb dropouts. The first time I saw them was a few months ago on this topic which helped identify a Gitane Traveler mystery bike.

Does have reflectors, so safety first. I'd like to see it with front brake only

It's called extended crumple zone. The safest new concept on kid's bikes.

New rule, you can't sell bikes until you learn to read

Schwinn bike for sale - $50

Schwinn bike in good state for sale. The only thing is that it has a flate tyre, which probably can be repaired easily. $50 bucks and it's yours. I live in Allentown.

'Flate tyre' sounds like a condition that can be treated with ointment.

I was more impressed with the photo than the spelling

I saw the sticker on the frame (of course it could be a Schwinn with a Ross sticker.........)

Saw a bunch of stuff (including two bikes) on the curb this morning with a sign saying "BERNIE SANDERS YARD SALE (FREE ****)". If the bikes are still there when I ride home, I'll come back with a car and grab them. One was some kinda chopper (banana seat, twisted metal ornamental parts), one was a very old 10 speed: Campagnia Challenger? Stem shifters (suntour?), weinmann centerpull brakes, cottered cranks.

Jeez, dude, Ross had a damn factory in Allentown. That bike was built there. Where's your civic pride?

I can't tell if they're serious or not? And do we even have goats head thorns here?

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/...382742537.html

$77 Surly Cross Check

It pains me, but it's time to sell my beloved Cross Check. This bike and I have been many places together and I hope it will take its next owner to even more awesome locales. I carefully built the bike up piece by piece and upgraded it over time to the magnificent beast that it is today. I'd love to keep it, but the Va. elections really put things in perspective and this bike deserves to be ridden more. Please send me an email and I will get right back to you provided that I am not sleeping or out riding.

I'll cut to the chase and get to the build list:
52cm Surly Cross Check in a fetching forest green color. It's currently built up with the full carbon fork that's pictured, but I will also include the stock steel fork.
10 speed Ultegra shifters
XTR rear derailleur
XTR 11-36 cassette
SRAM Red front derailleur
SRAM 1070 chain with less than 150 miles on it
Ultegra 50-34 crankset with 172.5mm arms
Blue anodized BB with ceramic bearings
Handbuilt wheels with recently overhauled Dura Ace hubs laced to Velocity A23 rims with Wheelsmith spokes and DT Swiss nipples
Soma Supple Vitesse 38mm tires with tough liners to avoid goats head punctures (Tires have less than 50 miles on them)
Thomson Elite seatpost
Thomson X4 stem
Paul Touring cantis
Salsa Liplock seatpost collar
Salsa skewers
Chris King headset
Ritchey classic 40cm handlebars
Brooks honey leather bar tape
Almost new SPD pedals
Sorry, the Brooks saddle is not included, but I will keep it on the bike for test ride purposes.

Accessories and extras:
Paul Gino light mount
Velo Orange Pass Hunter rack
New, never mounted Velo Orange 45mm Facette fenders with all hardware
Super loud Spurcycle bell

$77 firm. All money donated to dolphin language research.
