2000 Kestrel KM40 Airfoil in San Diego, if anyone is looking for a very good Triathlon bike at a nice price:

I came SOOOOO close to buying this bike this morning. It's in really beautiful shape, but I just could not get comfortable with the tri-bar configuration, so I realized I would not ride it as-is. But even so, I almost bought it to flip it, because it is in such nice condition, and well equipped (mostly Dura Ace 9-speed, with some Ultegra). If anyone is interested, I could facilitate - it's about 4 miles from my house and I've already checked it out and met the owner. He's simply moved on to a newer carbon Kestrel Tri bike. BTW, it's 650c wheels.

I do not think that is A medium.Should have drops. Most likley too small for current owner.Stem/steer setup?
Maybe A good buy if the frame is in good shape and it fits.

It's definitely a weird build, but the parts are decent and it's hard to come by a frame of this size. I could see there being an audience...which is why I posted it.

I was surprised this didn't sell at $900. Then $800. Now I am tempted....

[h=2]1980 Serotta Nova 57cm - $600 (NH) hide this posting[/h]

do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers
Good condition Serotta Nova lugged steel road frame & fork with Dura-Ace headset, 60cm ctc seat tube and 57cm ctc top tube. It is from the early 1980s, Columbus SL tubing, Cinelli BB shell and Campagnolo drop outs. It has a Serotta factory repaint from some time in the 90s. It is rust free, has no dents and the paint is in fair shape - it has plenty of character and would love another factory repaint someday. A really high quality classic road racing frame from a Premier builder at that time. Looks great and rides even better. 126mm rear spacing, English threaded BB, 27.2 diameter seatpost.

Bike is spec'd with an assortment of parts to make it rideable and enjoyable, not just an attempt at slapping period parts together. I bought the bare frame and built it last year, putting 300 fair weather miles on it before putting it away. I have way too many bikes and it's on the small side for me (I'm 6'2") so off to a deserving new owner.

Wheels/Tires: Mavic MA40 CD. 32h Shimano 600 tricolor hubset. Tires are Specialized All Condition 25mm. Wheelset and tires are in excellent condition and straight.

Saddle: Black/white Specialized Romin 143mm, steel rails

Bar/Stem: Period appropriate Scott branded TTT 130mm quill stem and 42cm handlebars

Bar tape: Fizik white 2mm Superlight Microtex bar tape

Seatpost: Dura Ace 7400

Brakes and Derailleurs: Ultegra 6500

Shifters: Dura Ace SL-7700

Levers: SRAM S500

Crank: Ultegra 6650 50x34 Compact 175mm, ice grey

Chain/Cassette: Dura Ace/Ultegra 12-25

Bridgestone Mile 112 - $336 (Wellington St) hide this posting

Bridgestone Mile 112 from 1987, size 53cm. You should be 5'6 - 5'9.
Overall condition is fantastic. There are some minor scratches on the frame, and minor surface rust on the headset. The sale includes the white frame pump and water bottles in the picture.
I put on a 7 speed freewheel to make the bike as 14 speed (2x7) rather than 2x6. I can put back the 6 speed freewheel upon request. Also, I put on the new Shimano brake pads. Downtube shifter is SunTour's AccuShift. It's indexed but it's not like Shimano's shifters. The first generation SunTour index shifters don't work as well as Shimano. So, the rear shifter is set to friction, thus, 7 speed is no problem.

As name Mile 112 suggests, this is early days triathlon bike. Bike's weight is about 23lb. Ride quality is really good despite the front fork being aluminium. The frame is cromoly steel. And obviously, this is Peterson design bike.

I took it to a couple of rides. This is a beautiful bike and would love to keep it but I just have way too many bikes. I trued wheels, and made sure the everything is working condition.

Cash only, and pick up only.

Fat tubes on Kleins mean that there's less room between top tube and downtube, which can make one think that the bike is smaller than it is when looking at the headtube. Also those Icon forks have pretty big ATC. I can run 32mm CX knobbies in the one on my Lemond. Frames made for forks with big ATC can look smaller than they are also.

Saw a Lotus Super Pro aero bike near me. Does $860 seem a bit steep for this model?

Lotus Super Pro Aero, vintage racing bike, full Shimano Dura Ace

I sometimes see a guy on a Lotus on my commute (usually crossing the GWB on the way home). I usually call out the name of his bike while passing. LOTUS!

Given the rarity of the frame AND parts alone (aero dura ace and nitto blue stem) and the condition. I'd say is a fair price.

This is a tough one to answer...I have more than that invested in mine after repairs and parts acquisition. Would I be confident that I could recoup $860...net ebay fees...on eBay? Yes, but it may not be a fast sale. For someone who wants one of these...there just aren't many of them, and they'd likely pay that and more...but it's a limited market. I think I could get 1200ish for it, but it might tale a year. I know of one that sold on the CR list and it went a good bit higher than that...but it didn't sell fast.
