VINTAGE 1960s ITALIAN Hand-Made Atala 10 Speed Lightweight Road Bike - $150 (NW/Dublin (can deliver elsewhere))

Date: 2011-12-11, 6:28PM EST
Reply to: sale-vbetp-2748165263@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

You definitely don't see one of these every day. This is a mid to late 1960s Atala ten speed road bike.

It is remarkably light for a bike of this age. It features (non-original) aluminum rims, an aluminum seatpost, aluminum 3T stem, aluminum handlebars, aluminum kickstand, and aluminum Universal center-pull brakes. Original Simplex Prestige derailleurs and downtube shifters are functional and in decent condition. Vintage Brooks saddle. Rear freewheel is drilled for weight savings.

Overall I would say that the bike is in good, but not excellent, condition. There are a few rust spots, most noticably on the left pedal but also on the rear derailleur hanger and a bit on the shifter brackets. Paint has some visible wear, but is pretty good for 45 year old original paint. Tires are older skinwalls (rear is a Kenda, front is a Specialized, but they look the same), and are a little dirty but in rideable condition. Quick release hubs and brakes work well. All new brake and derailleur cables and housings. Could use some new foam on the handlebars (or replace with regular bar tape... I left the foam because I like having some extra padding). All aluminum parts have been polished to a nice shine.

Frame measures 23 inches from the center of the crank to the top of the seatpost- I'm 5'11 and the size feels just right for me.

Asking $150 or best offer on this.

57.5cm DE ROSA MAXIUM road frameset.

Include frame and fork with c record bottom bracket and Athena headset.

Measures 57.5 on seat tube, 57 on top tube. Both measurements are center to center.

Features incredibly rare Columbus maxium tube set, so rare google has barely heard of it. It's a 5 sided star crimp very similar to the famous 4 sided gilco tubes colnago made famous.

The chrome on the fork and stays is a little rough, paint is in good shape overall and, most importantly, frame is rust free.
Very cool frame, no time for this project, others have taken priority.

500 obo. Thanks.

Did you see the lug design

I have never before seen a Harry Quinn [sp?] outside the Custom Bicycle book, and only looked at Hilary Stone's Brit stuff regularly. I really like the lugs on the Panasonic.

Oh, I'm talking about pp487, and pictured 28hundredsomething bike

Serotta Racing Bike - $600 (Framingham, MA)

White frame with black & gold details, Shamano package, 18 speed, less than 600 miles on the bike, Mavic Rims, Elite Italiano Saddle, bike monitor, Salsa Chilli Handlbars. I am 5'6", with a 32" inseam, so the bike works best for a person who requires a shorter top tube. The frame is 52cm. I also have a rear wheel trainer that will be included that has only been used twice and is practically brand new. This bike has been taken care of and has always received annual tuneups prior to riding and was originally built up from the frame. The bike was only used for a few Crit races and short rides under 20 miles. Serious inquiries please.
