I wasn't trying to fool anyone but thought the same thing until I looked closer. You can better see the hooks from this angle. It went up into the rafters again after this photo.

Chrome Rene Herse at a local pumpkin festival!!

This was his father's bike. His parents both had Herses and used to go on tours with Dr. Clifford Graves in the '60s and early '70s...

Actually, yes! He used painter's tape to attach a pump!

This bike is not vintage, as its older than that. Vintage apparently only applies to bikes 25-99 years old, this being from 1889 is a whopping 136 years old and has antique status. But its a working antique. The rider was on his way back to Dundee after accompanying the London to Brighton car rally on Saturday, for cars made BEFORE 1905. He rode 58 miles on it, chapeau!

Its a Singer, nothing to do with Alex, this was made.in Coventry, England. Trendy wide bars, rod.front brake, solid rubber tyres on metal rims. Saddle is not period correct being a newer one from 1905 :). Also of note are the hamdlebar grips which are made from buffalo horn.

The hang tag says '40's, so this 2-wheeled tricycle is a youngster by comparison :p

What's with the bottle caps in the front spokes?

Sort of like a mini pennyfarthing although that size is of course more for a tricycle.

The bottle caps when new would make a colorful display with the bike in motion?

No positive ID but I'm getting a distinct aged 3-speed vibe off this one.

Spotted on the SF Bay Trail near the Rosie the Riveter outdoor timeline (maybe a half mile from the main Rosie the Riveter museum). A Sante-built Pogliaghi from late-late 1973 or early-early 1974, custom-built for the original owner, who still owns it and with whom I had a lovely chat. He picked it up in person at the Pogliaghi shop (therein lies a tale too long to tell here). Over the years, the paint got beat up and the frame picked up a ding or two, so he had Ed Litton repaint it and take care of the dings (I didn't think to ask when he had the work done, but it certainly looked to been not too long ago), It's definitely a looker. I can count the number of Pogliaghis (Sante- or Basso-built) I have seen in person on the fingers of one hand with some left over, so this was a real treat.

Enjoy, and please forgive my less-than-great photography skills.

I guess this is more motorbike than cycle, but it was the Brooks saddle and bicycle crank and pedals that caught my eye, along with overall how cool looking this thing is.

The Internet tells me Hedstrom was the main man behind what became Indian motorcycles.
