1973 Raleigh Catalog Scans - where to host?

I recently scanned the entire 1973 Raleigh catalog at 600 dpi. I don't know that there is another on the web that has all 24 pages in high res.

Can anyone host the catalog? Is there somewhere I should put these?

Bikes: Some of the bikes I've collected: Raleighs ( about 20), Trek ( oldest 1978 770 Columbus tubes), Mercian, Condor, Bob Jackson, Falcon, Holdsworth, Jacques Anquetil, Bianchi, LeMond, Cannondale, Schwinn, Iver Johnson, Dunelt

What format file did you use and how large is it?

I have the 1975 catalog that I would like to share.
The only date in it refers to Roy Schuiten 1974 World Professional Pursuit Champion.

Bikes: Giant Excursion, Raleigh Sports, Raleigh R.S.W. Compact, Motobecane? and about 20 more! OMG

Kurt would probably be interested. I don't believe he has a 1973 on his site.

Definitely interested; more than welcome to host the '73 (and '72 and '71 if anyone has the scans). PM me.

I don't consider snippets of the entire catalogs a proper reference. The '67, '68, '70, '72, '73, '74 and '78 .PDF's are laughable.

Look at the last page of the '73 catalog. At least 11 pages have been omitted, including those for the Record, the Grand Prix, the Sports, Superbe, Sprite, LTD, Tourist/DL-1, Twenty, Chopper, and the kid's Colt and Mounties. Most folks don't even know the 24" "Record 24" exists either (except for a similar machine in the '81 catalog), because its been omitted with the rest.

+1 Sheldon's copies only have the 3-4 high end models he was mostly interested in. And, unfortunately, there is no mention that the catalogs on the site are incomplete

Neither did I, back when I was new to this hobby - and believe me, it made it a royal pain to figure out anything regarding the Raleigh Sports. That's why I do not reference these catalogs on The Headbadge, and refuse to do so.

It wasn't until I saw the bottom of the '73 .PDF that I realized I'd been had.

It didn't even have the Sports or Twenty in it, which he seemed to have some fondness for. Notice how talk about Raleigh Sports have dwindled since his death.

Failing to note that the catalogs are incomplete ticks me off more than anything else. A simple mention of such could easily avert a good deal of the preexisting confusion.

I hear ya Kurt, A simple note on the site would have sufficed.

Interestingly enough I picked the '73 catalog at random to see the incompleteness first hand a little while ago and I noticed the same thing you just mentioned on the last page....all those models listed with page numbers and those pages are missing.

Hey guys, thank you for the replies. I will get some PMs sent out and see what I can do. The other problem with Sheldon's scans is low resolution. The spec pages are difficult to read.

Good call chi-james. I will post them to my flickr page.

I should also mention that this is Scott Ryder's catalog and he was trusting enough to let me scan it. I would like to thank him again and try to make these scans easily accessible.

Kurt I am working on your winRAR compression.

As the owner of many 73's, we're anxiously awaiting the link.

Thanks in advance!

I'm going to try to get the scans set up on VeloBase in the morning. Should be under the Catalog Scans page by mid-day, if someone notices I haven't gotten around to it yet by then, send me a PM and tell me to get off my duff and get it done. I'll be eating lunch at my desk at work tomorrow and will have the time to do it.

'73 is quite an important year, come to think of it. First year of the italicized Raleigh/Rampar decal set - what would become the last classic Raleigh decal set to make it to the US - first year for the self-adjusting brakes (ok, an important blunder), and - if I am not mistaken - the first year for brake cable braze-ons on the Raleigh Sports.

The 1970 catalog was shot here in Massachusetts. Someday, just for fun, I'm thinking of bringing a few of my Raleighs over to those locations and reshooting some photos. Not that the bikes themselves will be correct but it might be interesting to see how 40 years has changed the landscape and surroundings.

Ok, the 73 catalog is now on VeloBase.com in the Catalog Scans page. Scroll down to the Raleigh heading, should be the first one.
