That's what I thought when I bought it on eBay, too bad I didn't know Bianchi sized their frames differently! The beautiful paint sold the bike locally on
CL in a matter of 2 days.

Judging by the decals, I'm guessing between 1982-1986ish, but my serial number format doesn't match others I've seen here.

Others I've seen are in the format of [letter][number][number][number][number][number], where mine is [number][letter][number][number][number][number] as you can see in the pics below.

Serial number 2M1354 or maybe 2-M1354, since there is something between "2" and "M", maybe it's a period?

Other details:

Bianchi Nuovo Racing 12 vel
Campa Nuovo Record components (F/R derailers and crankset)
Ofmega headset assembly
Ofmega hubs
Mavic Open 4 CD rims
Italian made.

'83 or 84 would be my best guess, the Nuovo Racing name seems to be replaced by Nuovo Alloro in '85. Are the Cranks Campi? or Ofmega clones? they would be an upgrade it they are. Any idea what the the original brakes were?

I have a red Bianchi that I bought at a bike jumble and would love some help identifying it. I might sell it soon on ebay/craigslist because I'm considering upgrading. Here is the serial number:

Drive side of BB - 185253
Other side - V A

Thanks!

Identifying a Bianchi by the serial number alone is very difficult. Can you post a few pics and maybe some additional information? What kind of brakes, derailleurs, cranks, and hubs would be helpful.

Thanks for the quick response. I figured out the model--it's a Premio. Now I just need to figure out the year. The brakes are Dia-Compe and the crank is a Sugino. It's been converted to a single speed and the wheels are new.

Bianchigirll 05-22-12 01:42 PM

If the decals are white and look like the ones on the bike above it is a '87. If there is a line running through the Bianchi decal it is a '89.

Hello Bianchi fans,

Much thanks to Bianchigirll for her help with my previous Bianchi purchase! In my ongoing quest for a large frame Bianchi, I am considering this bike on eBay (frame only to take my Super Record Gruppo).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1980s-62cm-B...item3a752dc79b

I can't see the frame tubing sticker but assume it's the Bianchi Special Columbus. Is this a good deal for the $300 the buyer is asking (plus the shipping)?

Sincerest Regards, Jim

Bianchigirll 05-31-12 08:48 AM

I think that is a '85 Vittoria w/ Campi Victory. If so the yes the tubing would be Bianchi Special by Columbus.

$300 might be a tad high but if your having trouble finding a 62 then go for it. Is he including the HS?

himmiesutton 05-31-12 10:43 PM

Thanks Bianchigirll! Think I'll give this one a pass. Does Bianchi generally reserve the Celeste color for only their higher end frames?

I just received a "Bianchi" for my Birthday. S/N on BB HS19476. The reason I put quotes around Bianchi is that it is a beautiful dark metallic blue that I have never seen before and besides a Bianchi decal on the DT and a Piaggio sticker on the ST and a made in Japan sticker it has no other markings. Low end components Suntour GT, Sakae hubs and handle bars. I will post a picture tomorrow. It rides nice but before I convert it to a single speed commuter I would like to figure out what the frame is made out of i.e. I****awa 022 or Tange or did Bianchi have an even lower end product? What I am most afraid of is that someone bought a sticker set on CL and ripped my wife off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bianchigirll 06-10-12 09:33 PM

Pile of Tile, nice looking Bianchi. I think this is arouns a '96/97 I look it up tomorrow.

Hello Welcome to the forums. If the bike has a Bianchi, Piaggio, Ishwata, and made in Japan decal I doubt someone went to all that trouble to fake a Bianchi especially the made in japan decal.

Post some good pics and see what kind of steel it is made of, Bianchi used both an Ishawatta ChroMoly and HiTen. What kind of derailleurs and brakes are on it?

It feels like it is a HiTen frame. Good to know they existed, but what I really want is someone to tell me it is Ishwatta and it is just the low end components making it feel so heavy.

Bianchigirll 06-11-12 07:59 AM

What is the model name on the TT? Sport? Standard?

Sorry to say it looks like an '82 Standard which would be HiTen tubing. Of more immediate concern is the bent fork. If you follow the line of the headtube down along the fork you can see how the angle changes and the blades almost look swept back. That should be replaced.
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1339418870

Edit; I had the wrong bike posted here.
Aside from that it looks like a nice clean bike and should be a great rider. Once you start reading and hanginf out here more you'll find alot of these older "Gas Pipe" bikes are actually great riders. they are kind of like big old Buicks and Oldsmobiles they have a bit of weight to them and that helps take the bumps out of the road.

Hey Bianchi Girl it says Sport on the TT. No chance that means Ishwatta? Good looking out on the forks I have a black and chrome lugged fork off of a Cr-Mo Schwinn in the gararge. Thanks for your help and I will post my pics when it has been converted to a lean(well not so lean)mean single speed commuting machine.

No problem....I was just making sure my fork was not bent. That would have been a bad deal.
Still wondering what year this may be? I was told either 98 or 99 by the previous owner. Also, kinda wonderin what it would be worth.
Also, the last i in Bianchi on the seat tube is missing, I found JR from the forum who said he could duplicate it for me, should I replace it or just leave it be? Would it take away from the value of the bike?

Thanks....
Marc

I am pretty sure it is a '96 everything seems to point to that. I would not worry too much about the missing letter, carefully removing the rest of the decal and cleaning my prove more frustrating than the effort is worth.

I try not to get too involved in giving values but maybe 400ish? It is nice and clean but a '96 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

OH what kind of brakes are on that?

Hey everyone, I just picked up a Bianchi frame on Ebay. And now begins the fun of what is it, I've read the thread and here's my guess. I think I have a 92-94 Reparto Corse TSX. The Serial number is A 208952 on the bottom of the crank. Chrome at the ends of the chainstays and seat stays. The frame decals are blue trimmed in gold. Signature decal on right top tube and right chain stay. Internal brake housing on the top tube, down tube is ovalized at the bottom bracket, and no headtube decal. Doesn't have a fork, but I believe it would be a chrome unicrown. The bike should have been sold as frame/fork giving me some latitude in how I build it up. It is going to be repainted,http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=255653http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=255654 is there a source for decals? So does it sound like I'm on the right track for my first Bianchi?

Bianchigirll 06-12-12 10:47 AM

Hello Mtboy59 welcome to the forums. The dates sound about right, the fork would have been a basic chromed Unicrown. Persoanlly I would look at the Soma straight blade fork for that.

Decals... Try Velocals but I understand he is slow. Check Ebay there is a guy in Austrailla, Cyclemundo I think that I have gotten decals from. wether he has or can make those I do not know.

No help for me bianchigirll :-( . Either way thanks to this site I think it's a 71 Sprint but having knowledged people confirm would be great. Gathering it seems the sprint was entry level. Is this still Italian made? You know what the bike stock came with? Such as hubs and what not.

Thanks

I am sorry it is just a bit old for me. I am more familiar with the '80/90 models. I thought it looked like a Bianchi in another post that Randy had IDd it. It does look like nice bike for its aga I just have nothing to offer on what it is.

duckmanEG 06-12-12 02:38 PM

Thanks for the reply.you are super knowledged in bianchi. I think I found what I was looking for in the other c&v section
