Hey everyone, I just picked up a Bianchi frame on Ebay. And now begins the fun of what is it, I've read the thread and here's my guess. I think I have a 92-94 Reparto Corse TSX. The Serial number is A 208952 on the bottom of the crank. Chrome at the ends of the chainstays and seat stays. The frame decals are blue trimmed in gold. Signature decal on right top tube and right chain stay. Internal brake housing on the top tube, down tube is ovalized at the bottom bracket, and no headtube decal. Doesn't have a fork, but I believe it would be a chrome unicrown. The bike should have been sold as frame/fork giving me some latitude in how I build it up. It is going to be repainted,http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=255653http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=255654 is there a source for decals? So does it sound like I'm on the right track for my first Bianchi?

Those letters look exactley like mine....has a little bit of gold trim around the blue letters right? If so, I have tried just about everyone....JR at Velocals was the only guy I could find willing and able. Hope that helps.

Thanks Marc, I try him out.

OK I guess I should have asked what style, single pivot, Monoplanor, or DP I can't quite tell from the pic.

Hi all, first post here!

I have a Bianchi Forza that I bought used and have been riding for several years, and now am just wondering when it was manufactured. I have narrowed it down to "the early 90's". Here is what I know:

14 speed
Color: Celeste/Bianchi Green
Exage Action brakes
Exage 500EX derailers
Exage 400EX cranks
Superset II chrome moly double butted frame
Unicrown chrome moly fork
Sakae Custom bars
serial # on BB: H0J25123

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bianchigirll 07-15-12 03:26 PM

Is it all Celeste or Celeste and white? I think it is a '93 but I don't have access to my catalogs for a few weeks.

wcsuther 07-16-12 05:33 PM

Thanks Bianchigirl. It's all Celeste, with white letters..

Hi, can anyone identify this rather sad Bianchi?

Serial number is 57 E.578
Rear of cranks have '93' in square box
Bianchi pressed script at top of seat stays and on rear brake hanger
Tubing is SLX
Blue and gold (light brown?) stripes at start of 'Bianchi' decals
Chain stays are chromed
Cables are internally routed
Forks appear to be chromed under paint (which is flaking), and flattened near top?
Delta Brakes
Ergo levers
Saddle is a Selle Italia TriMatic
Wheels are Campagnolo Sigma Strada Hardox
Stem ('3TT Tecno Tubo Torino') and handlebars are 3TT

Hello Welcome to the forums. I agree that is a sad looking Bianchi but it was a nice one. I would like to see a pic of the brake bridge (hanger) but I am pretty sure you have 87 Mondiale, which was the standard top model in '87. Judging from what looks like a rolled in headbadge you may have a special model called a X-4.

The group is Campagnolo Corse Record or commonly refered to as C-Record with Delta brakes. great Bianchi!!

Hi BianchiGirll, thanks for the rapid reply. You know your stuff!

Here is a shot of the brake hanger, not the best picture I'm afraid.

The hanger rises in the middle (shallow inverted V shape), is rectangular in section, and rusty, as you can see... I can only think that the bike has been ridden in the winter with salt on the road.

Is it worth having the frame restored, or is it too far gone?

Bianchigirll 08-01-12 01:38 PM

It is certainly worth cleaning, I would spray all the parts with Simple Green cleaner and scrub them up. As for the frame I would certainly find a qualified repainter who can find or make exact replica decals.

Does that say X-4 on the other side?

pmb1957 08-01-12 01:50 PM

Nope, doesn't say anything as far as I can see.

Bianchigirll 08-01-12 02:57 PM

Well in any case I would certainly very seriously consider having that repainted.

I've been a regular in the "41" for a few months now, since I got rid of my steel bike.
I see we have a few Bianchi expert in here. I'm looking for a few details on this bike.
I'm guessing it's a Limited by the color, & components.

S/N# BS347000

Nothing really fancy, I just missed the feel of Steel.
My Fall project:

This is how I got her, I haven't tweaked anything yet.
I just picked her up for $90, planning on updating a few things, & making this my grocery/cruiser.
Planning on changing the saddle(even thought it was quite comfortable without my bib), & seat post 1st.

pmb1957 08-02-12 01:48 PM

Many thanks bianchigirll for the identification and for the good advice - I'll get it stripped down and start on a preservation project!

Bianchigirll 08-02-12 03:18 PM

Your in Canada so your bikes are different from ours but I would guess this is a '84/5ish Stada level bike. What does the tubing decal say? Components? the RD looks like a much later replacement.

Manganese, made in Japan.
Yes the RD looks like its been replaced, same with the wheels they're 700c.

I had posted this bike (my brother's) in the STI thread:

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...7-06063627.jpg

He thought it was a Bianchi Trofeo. According to the sales receipt, it was supposed to be a '84, but looking at the catalog scans on bulgier.net, it doesn't appear that Trofeos came into being until 1986 or so.

Serial number is: 6B on one side of BB and 10342 on the other. He said it was Columbus SL/SP, but he had it repainted, so it has the Columbus repaint decal on it (and apparently in the wrong place, at the bottom of the seat tube.) I never saw it before it was repainted, so dunno.

Any thoughts?

I just took a closer look @ the decal & it's says "Hi-Mn, & PG"

'86 serial number? (6B 10342)?

Bianchigirll 08-03-12 04:15 PM

What are the dropouts? Can you post some closeups of the Bianchi and model decals? The script model would indicate a '87 model (atleast here in the US) The frame is most likely a..... was this bike in a different Bianchi thread?

Hi Bianchigirl

Yes, I posted this both in the retro roadies- old frames with STI's or Ergos thread, and in the Show us your Bianchi thread.

It has been repainted, I guess about 8-10 years ago when he bought it (frame only) from a California dealer. I never saw it before 2-3 years ago and not sure if he has any pics before the repaint.

At any rate, the frame has Gipemme rear dropouts and Bianchi front dropouts. Not sure if that means the fork is not original or not. It was originally celeste, and he said it was a Bianchi superset and thought it was SL/SP. Full braze-ons except for front derailleur hanger. It has recessed brakes. It was repainted by a local framebuilder; the Columbus sticker is a repaint Columbus Acciaio Speciale.

If you need any more pics, I'll be happy to post them. Thanks!

seat cluster: This leads me to think the frame itself is '85/86/87ish. I am pretty sure an '88/9+ would have been script

bottom bracket:
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...8-02074508.jpg

fork crown: The fork looks '88+ with the eagle rather than the B or print Bianchi
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...8-03055752.jpg

rear dropout: The catalog does not specify but I believe these came into vouge in '85ish rather then the pricier Campi
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...8-03055730.jpg

crank/BB: Before '88 and SL/SP mix level frame would have likely been a Mondiale or orhte top end frame and featured a partian chrome drive side stay.
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...7-06063655.jpg

I do like that the painter used a generic columbus respray decal. However the other decals don't do much to pin down a time frame sinc ethe TT model decal (what does it say anyway?) would be an '87 model year thing and the Bianchi decals look '92ish and later. Perhaps T-Mar can have a look and make sense of the serial number. any chance there are before pics?
