C and V Sunglasses???
#26
I buy my sunglasses as cheap as many of my bikes - box of 12 safety glaases @ Sam's for $25 about 6-7 years back.
Still have a few of the clear lense pairs left, but I'm on my last dark pair.

From: Me, I'm in Central Alabama C.S.A. But my husband is under the bed. He's sure there is a black helicopter orbiting our house.
Bikes: Schwin,Ross,Cannondale.
I drop about $100 worth of glasses in the lake every year on the boat. I have become a by the box safety glasses type also.

I've been wearing the same shades, and the same frame in eyeglasses for about 40 years. Ray Ban aviators, but the Caravan shape. More square-ish. Prescription lenses. I sometimes wear those but two years ago bought a set of Maui Jim's for fly fishing because the old Ray Bans didn't give enough protection at the bottom of the frame from glare off the water. The Maui Jims look more modern, but I don't care. Best pair of lenses I've ever looked through. From the neck up, I'm looking for utility and protection, not looks.

Also use them for flyfishing, kayaking, sailing, and riding. I also stash extra pairs of
el cheapo Target "Wayfarer" rip offs around (saddle bags, fly kits, and sailing duffles) in case I forget the good stuff.
We just watched a Cary Grant movie the other day, and he was wearing these.
I'd try those as well, as I like the tortoise shell quite a bit.

If I recall correctly, it seems to me by the late 60s early 70s, cyclists rarely wore sunglasses. I don't remember the likes of Merckx or Gimondi sporting shades. I could be wrong.
But I do remember Fausto and the aviators. Classic.

I'm pretty darn light sensitive, so I almost always ride with sunglasses. However, I seem to have the problem that the more expensive they are, the more likely I am to lose them. I usually end up buying something in the $25-$35 range on sale at Nashbar when I'm ordering something else. Here I am in something I've since lost:

The only sunglasses I have and wear are a pair of Maui Jims MJ-550-02 Mahi Titanium in gunmetal that I found on the ground in front of my shop and no one claimed about 5 years ago. I just love these glasses and before these I would wear whatever I could find for under $10 because I would always lose them or destroy them one way or another.

I have a really excellent pair of aviators my father gave me in 1989 when I was excavating in Turkey all summer. But they're not right for cycling.
To match the kind of bikes I ride, I really should dig out the goggles he used for skiing in the 50's, which I'm pretty sure are still stowed away in the attic somewhere. They look kinda like these:

A kayaker once told me it doesn't matter how good binoculars are when they are at the bottom of Puget Sound.

Exactly. I had a set with white frames.
They made it 10 degrees cooler on a run, great protection on a ride, until they fogged.
The brow band kept sweat pretty much out.
They got stolen at a 10k, then I found a lady wearing them at the next 10k.
She admitted she found them and gave them right back.
I've been looking for another pair for a while. Closest I can find are M-Frames.
My wife wouldn't let me wear them to drive or do anything else in public.
Right now, I generally wear modern, but I make do a lot with a pair of John Lennons.
