Lighting question
Is there an easy way to update an old bullet dynamo light so that it is brighter? I'm kind of hoping someone has a link to LEDs that fit in the old flashlight bulb spot or something. If not, how hard is the hard way to update an old bullet front light?
Thanks

Thanks! I think I remember reading this before but I couldn't find it again. Now I just have to figure out which one I need.

Dynamos generate AC current so you need to rectify it to DC before you can power the LED. You will probably also need to condition the DC current with a capacitor and regulate the voltage since a bike dynamo can generate a lot of voltage at times. I measured up to 41 volts from a bottle dynamo. Look in the electronics and lighting forum; there is a lot of good advice and circuit diagrams you can use.

Sells LED bulbs for vintage dynamo lighting. The bulbs are rated enough to deal with the voltage swings from the AC system without a rectifier. Though at low speeds the lights will flicker.
