~1992 Hub Help

I was told this is an American Classic hub built up in ~1992. I've tried to find the hardware to get this to work with a modern 100mm carbon fork, but so far have had no luck. Anyone have any idea where I can find the parts I need?

Thanks

I believe American Classic is still in business so I would try them first. Roger

They are still in business, but were not helpful. First they said that the parts I need were discontinued and long out of stock, then basically just said it's time to get a new hub, which I'd rather not do. I'm thinking of maybe finding a solid threaded axle that could fit through, and going from there...Problem is I don't even know what their "long out of stock" parts looked like/did, so i'm kind of just guessing at what might work.

There is a cap that goes on both sides and has a small end hole and lip for the frame fit and the retention clamp/skewer. Phil Wood used a very similar/maybe the same system you might try contacting them. I think I have a Phil hub around here and will try to get you a picture. Roger

American Classic hub and all its parts. This is a rear freewheel hub from 1993 and was on my 8 speed Bike Friday Pocket Rocket. First pic is the hub with all the parts on it. The skewer is an Allen wrench operated type. Second picture is the skewer removed. Third picture is with the caps removed. Fourth picture is hub with the caps in a side view. The last picture is the caps from the end view. You need the caps and AC made many sizes and you need the ones for the hub to make it the correct width. You need to find them and I can't imagine anyone selling you them without selling the full hub. You might be able to have a machinist make you some but either of these two options is going to be expensive. Your caps will be the same length not two different sizes like mine are. AC may be right in that it will just be cheaper to get a different hub/wheel. Edit: the pictures didn't end up in the order I listed them but I think you can figure which is which. They are roughly CCW from the upper left side. Roger

Wow, thanks so much for the pics! Hmm, alright, I guess for now I'll see if I can find anyone selling just a front hub. Thanks again!
