bike to work day today. I'm on the "Green Team" and had to get in at 6am to help set up a station.

Spent a few hours at Velo Cult in Portland a few weeks ago.

In an unrelated event I saw some vintage iron, next level. The guy in the Aston Martin uses it for grocery runs as well. Pretty badass.

Nice pics, nice cars, Ital. Um, I would have thought the Netherlands a lot flatter than that. Those are danged steep slopes in your pics!

Found a nice mushroom today while riding today, a Dryad's Saddle. It's larger than my bike saddle -- wood nymphs must have big hinders.

Thanks Jim! It's in the southern most point of the Netherlands, near Maastricht, where a small protuberance of Dutchness stretches into the foothills of the Ardennes and the Eiffel. Riding paradise.

Thanks, I don't know why they showed up sideways, they are the right way up in flickr.

It may be a size restriction thing here, C…not sure. Al though, all I did was flip it.
Nice cars!

My wonderful shop cat decided to bring me a gift in my upstairs office this afternoon - a very live gift

IthaDan, thank you for the idea of using clementine crates for parts! I'm going to start collecting them. I was just asking myself what to use as replacements for plastic and cardboard crates. These are perfect. Too bad clementines just went out of season, but that's OK. I can probably still find a few crates, and I always eat a ton of them in season.

Racer ?

scozim 05-13-14 07:00 AM

Yep, I think so. It was a good 2 ft long when it stretched out and tried to get away from the cat. She caught it again under the seat in the background before I could get ahold of it and take it back outside.

rootboy 05-13-14 07:04 AM

Wow Scozim. Did she manage to bring it in without puncturing behind the neck? My one cat has caught several small garters, but they're always too far gone by the time I catch her at it.

Ha! Any time. :)

I kind of stumbled into them myself, two years ago the local wegmans had a giant bin marked 'free' chock full of clementine boxes. It was then and there I had the aha moment. There seems to be a transition to cardboard crates, so I'm glad I got them when I did.

On the whole, I've been rather pleased with myself for using them- they tend to be juuuust big enough for an an entire bike's worth of components (including cranks). The only gripe I have is the open area in the corners that small parts (barrel adjusters and so forth) can fall out of, but I'm sure there's another aha moment on the horizon. Maybe duct tape.
