DQRider Fantastic scenery and bicycle photos as always. I can't wait to visit the Twin Cities next month. We are close to confirming the dates and then I can decide which bicycle bring along.
As for me I only took a couple of photos on my VERY early morning 25 mile ride yesterday (530AM). I rode over the new bikeway connector to Randall's Island from the South Bronx. The trip over is now exponentially better than riding over the Triborough Bridge. Under the 3rd Ave Bridge a mobile "DNA truck" was taking an early morning rest before business hours began. Afterward we went down to take the ferry to Governor's Island for some fun with the little one. We took the first ferry at 10AM (free) and spent a good part of the day there. "The Hills" on the Island just opened this week and the views of Manhattan are spectacular. The newly constructed slides were a favorite of both big and small. Resting before the start of a busy day. http://i.imgur.com/tEdEMpo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JevHpHX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XNFQzKI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yLpI7Y1.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Se8VrFx.jpg |

Daughter asked to go for a ride today. I've got sooooo much to do, finish the club mag tonight, clean the house, prune fruit trees before holidays, pack for holidays. But, daughter asked to go for a ride and I will never say no to that. So took the Miyata Valley Runner for a valley run. Daughter has named this rig the 'Millenium Falcon', I was Han Solo and she's Rey. Bikes and Star Wars, my kid and I have lots of fun. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8804/2...cd80540551.jpg |

Another Ride on the Hastings Trail
I've posted these to a couple other threads, but they fit in here as well. Went back to Hastings, Minnesota again today, and brought my friend Ian this time. He rode his old sixty-something Dunelt, in red, and I rode my blue Velo de Ville this time.
The light was diffused by some moderate cloud cover, and that lent a nice, soft quality to the photos: http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...pslyvfitlf.png http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...psvroke5xy.png Last weekend, I rode right past this sculpture without even seeing it - unless they just put it out there this week... http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...psirilwhu1.png When the sun popped out from behind the clouds, I took advantage of the brief, bright interlude and shot this: http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...psjktx2kqd.png Another weekend, another excellent ride. How much more of this can I stand? |
Those are beautiful photos.

darn it! I meant to post on the 5 year anniversary of this thread the other day and forgot. Oh well.
Well anyway, here's a beater jack Taylor Tour of Britain that i've had sitting around. I'm going to build it and ride it as is for a bit. The pic makes is look better than it is. https://scontent-lax3-1.cdninstagram...MTk5OQ%3D%3D.2 |

Actually, this was Thursday morning while I was on vacation ...

I was in Chicago for a family wedding and got a chance visit the Museum of Science & Industry where they had a small "Art of the Bicycle" exhibit, including a mix of old & new. Here are a few of the old ones on display:

Here are a few images from my ride on the Root River Trail yesterday:
http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...psfvxylkn9.png An old gas station in the little town of Petersen. http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...ps66csjdwh.png When viewed from the trail, some of these old farms look... arranged or composed somehow - for best viewing from the trail. "Which is nice..." http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...pshlmibiwj.png Just off the trail in several places, one finds these nice gravel roads to test your `grinding skills on. http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...psbluqvalb.png A rest stop by the river. http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...pstkzwskqs.png Beautiful architecture, some of the brick buildings are magnificent. If you are ever in the area, the Root River Trail is definitely worth a visit. |
