I rode the Gateway Trail today, and stopped here for lunch:

As I was eating the chili I ordered, I glanced to my right and discovered an unexpected guest at the table.

I'm not sure where he came from, perhaps the tree I was sitting under? But he didn't seem to be in a hurry to go anywhere, and he ignored my attempts at conversation. So I just took his portrait, and then left him alone.

Hiked Diamond Head in Honolulu with my wife and oldest daughter this morning. Heading home tomorrow and leaving our daughter here for her first year of college. My wife will be a mess tonight and tomorrow.

Great shot! Nice and clear morning air.

Didn't actor and singer Jim Nabors have a house on Diamond Head (back in the day....)?

Cheers

I know the feeling, mine's going back to school this weekend. Hike with them while they'll still allow it :(

Spent yesterday around some vintage steel of a different kind. First show with my brother and first time our cars had been together since 1988

Brother's on the left and mine on the right after a nice layer of dust blew through for the day

Just received an incredible salt water fly sampler from our very own Rootboy. We are off to the Dominican Republic this winter and I have received permission from the CFO to bring along my Sage Musky/Hardy reel combo.

So many talents Scott has, as these flies are gorgeous.

I was out yesterday. I tied one of these on and caught a 4 lb largemouth on the first cast.

Barely hit the water and bam!!!!! :)

Not too shabby.

Also, check out the special "Grady's Gargoyle."

I fish locally for muskies with my steelhead outfit and this "Gargoyle" looks like just the ticket for late season muskies.

Thanks again Scott. You're the best. :)

What kind of show was it - Falcons and grain elevators?

iab 09-11-16 06:32 PM

OK. I'm cross posting but this is heading up to the continental divide on Going To The Sun Road. I'm on the right.

Riding through my neighborhood, on the way to breakfast this morning, I came across this teeny-tiny urban garage, built under a house, just off the street. It struck me as a perfect setting for a bike photo:

Just a local community having their farm appreciation celebration. Pretty good show with probably 75 cars.

We used the grain elevators as a backdrop for our photo shoot as we're putting together an article that we hope to have published in the Falcon Club of America magazine. These are 2 of 3 Falcons we had in high school that we've located and bought back.

Those are both awesome cars. Diggin the teardrop scoop on your brother's car.

Who would win in the quarter mile?

Easily his car. It's got a 347 stroker with a 4 bbl, 4.11 gears and a 4 spd. I've got a 289 with mild cam, 4 bbl and a 3 spd automatic, 2.80 gears. 2800 rpm for me at 60mph so I don't drive much over that. It's fun to not be in a hurry - kind of like riding a vintage bike a lot of the time.

Hairy rat potato

I've been growing this inside for a few months.

It took a while to get them the way I like them, so I'll be keeping them as they are.

When I saw the growths on the potato a few weeks ago, it occurred to me that I should toss it in the compost. But it hasn't ceased to be interesting, so it stays for now.
