Bikes: blue ones.

I suggest keeping that great bike for sunday shiny weather rides and have a good frame builder build you a new steel one.

FWIW, Masi bicycles from Alberto Masi's shop in Milano are still available in Europe under the Masi name.

Maybe the OP should measure it. If it is 126, then putting 130mm for modern 9/10/11 speed in wouldn't require cold setting.
Pars--it is 120 mm. When the original NR hubs died, I measured and replaced with Phil Woods. Phil still makes 120 mm hubs! Yay!

Do you want to ride your bike, or do you want to hang it as wall art?

If it's the former then cold set it and enjoy.

I don't subscribe to the belief that you would be committing some kind of sin against nature or mankind...it's your bike...do what it takes to ride and enjoy it!

My 2c.

Kurt--The bike came with NR and I upgraded thru the years. For example, the hubs to Phil Wood, the saddle from Unicanitor (ugh!) to CoolGear generation 1 gel (remember CoolGear), to Ideale until the leather rotted; the pedals to Look. Stem is TTT; bar is Cinelli; rear shifter is Modolo (after I smashed the original campy in a crash). I went through three NR rear derailleurs and since about 1980 have been very happy with a Suntour Superbe Pro (try getting one of those for under $100!) and Diacompe front. Original Campy bakes with Kool Stop pads. The Regina Oro cluster was replaced with an Ultra Six about 1985. I love the bike, but it's getting to be a pain to service. It's the only bike I've ever ridden where I feel like I'm riding IN the bike, not ON the bike. Know what I mean?

Ask and ye shall receive
$68 or best offer - https://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-SUNTOUR-...item564573b474
I'd be pretty surprised if this one ended over $50 - https://cgi.ebay.com/SUNTOUR-SUPERBE-...item2313318fe4
Matching Front Derailleur - $15. https://cgi.ebay.com/Suntour-Superbe-...item20bbd28fc9

Superbe is great stuff. Fortunately for those of us with smaller budgets its not Unobtanium.

I had a 1978 Cali Masi GC and it was 126mm. If yours is a 78 it won't be 120mm, I have owned lots of bikes and hardly any bike past '73 is 120mm.

Very interesting! I bought it (slightly) used in 1979 and the dealer said it was one year old. The rear drop outs definitely measure 120 mm. Maybe it is older. There is a serial code stamped on the bottom of the bottom bracket. Any idea who can tell me what the numbers mean?

Trek was making bikes with 120mm OLD up until 1981 or so. I have a box of 120mm Shimano hubs they tossed when marketing decided it was time to move to 126mm OLD.
