Peer pressure
I've finally succumbed to peer pressure, or pier pressure for AD fans..after tearing the yellow stuff on a wall, I bought this. The yellow is still underneath for padding. Anyway, it does look better, I have to admit.

Looks a lot better IMHO. It was already a fantastic looking bike before that. I'm all for all-black "contact points", it's looks cool, is functional and saves a lot of cleaning. Besides, bikes in black are for the 99%

Handlebra...it's my first time using it. A lot of the guys on Serotta talk about it and I met the owner, Ray, at a local bike thing. Heck of a nice guy, and I loved the examples he brought. I don't think the stitching is showing well in the photos (maybe I should have done yellow). It does seem quite thin...or "tactile"...which is why I put it over the exxisting tape.

The other thing I did was put tape under the hood...those hoods slice right into my hand, and my LBS rec'd putting tape under the hoods to make the contact point larger.

Interesting question...
The owner said 84'ish. The bike is a Litton re-spray, and you can't really make out the serial number anymore. I actually just called him to ask if he had a record of it, and his records were lost in a harddrive crash. He remembered it being earlier...like a 75'. I kow that's not right because it has a cinelli BB shell, which i don't think even existed in 75'. I suspect that the confusion is the original owner had a few Sachs...and Ed might have gotten mixed up on which one I have. The 84'ish estimate jibs with what I see.
Another cool thing is that Mr. litton told me he has a Silca that had been sprayed to match this frame...and which he had never gotten back to the owner. He's going to send it on to me, which is quite nice of him. Great guy from the phone call.

Good!, Maybe it's now time for skinwalls to brighten back up the look of the bike!
The blackwall tires with the dark rims just makes that bike look kinda "heavy".
JMOs...........

It is really too bad you can't visit his little facility. It is truly a wonder to behold - all kinds of interesting things hanging about on hooks.

And a heck of a guy that got me the bars...
Also a heck of a guy that sold me the Cobaltos.
Our forum has a lot of "heck of a guys".
As for the skin walls...I'm think a set of Veloflex Maters might work, but I had these tires laying around and wanted to give them a shot. I'm really not a huge fan of the Gatorskins anyway.

Those Cobalto "gems" tend to fall out. If it were mine, I use replacement nuts for riding, and keep the good ones in the house.

- I have a few bikes with Shimano. I think 4 or 5. It has its place. This stuff works a LOT better than the c-record stuff. It looks blocky and unattractive, but it does work well. My Team Miyata has record and c-record, and I debated switching the groups between the two for appropriateness, but I ride the Sachs more and left the Shimano on it because it works better. This DA 7400 works as well as the earlier NR and SR stuff, I don't want c-record on it and I don't want to spread it out to 130mm with Ergo...so Shimano 7400 it is!It still has the Campy touches with the calipers and headset

One thing I'm thinking about doing is painting the flutes red.

Gorgeous.
I liked her a lot before, and this is just as nice.
Just different.
Man Aaron, you have so many beautiful bicycles.
Why don't you drag one out to Minnesota next summer?
We'll have our next C&V ride early next summer, and you, DD, Robbie, Buldogge, Casey, and the rest of the C&V crew can ride till the cows come home.
All are welcome.
Seriously guys, we could have a whale of a time up here with the Minnesota crew.
Keith's ride he set up this fall was super fun.
Let's do it big time!
Start thinking about it folks.

I think they were $30. We have titanium rings...strictly 99%.
