When you say "the ideal Ciocc restoration subject should be one with the earlier "pintail" perforated lugs..." do you mean like this 79 San Cristobal:

While I think the later frames like Tony's are just as restoration-worthy, I agree that the earlier lugs are more distinctive and are indeed my favorite.

BTW, the standard links (i.e., not hollow pin links) that you see on the Regina Superleggera chain are original to the chain. The Superleggera comes with several of these links for installation and length adjustment. I actually took off several to make the chain short enough.

I was thinking exactly of those lugs but have never seen them in gold-plate, before...yowza! Stunning photos, as usual!
And thanks for correcting me re: the Regina chain, never having owned one I did not know that detail...we live and learn.
