This Is a chrome wastyn mixte I picked up this summer. campy record derailers, con denti pedals, no record high flange hubs, campy headset, campy drop out and fork ends, stronglight triple cranks, mafac dural forge brakes, 531 butted tubes,very nice nervex lugs speedic professional saddle,nitor made in italy 27.2 seat post, 22"seat tube 40" wheel base. Has anyone seen one like it? Thanks Brian

Looks like a set of '67-'73 Schwinn Twin-Stik shifters on the stem, interesting.

Beautiful bike... but, are you OK with the big bend in the mid-stay right behind the seattube? What's the spacing? That says a hurry-up job on a cold-set to me.

That is certainly a sweet looking bike (other than the stem shifters which I'd switch to barend)! It's a mixte Paramount which was never sold?

Have you checked the dates on the hub cone nuts? Also, does it have curved or straight QR skewers?

I've been to the Wastyn store in Chicago; there's neat historical paraphenalia all round, but as a contemporary bike shop it seemed pretty dead.

That's my kind of half-step-plus-granny gearing -- I ran 48-45-34/13-15-17-19-21-23 on my PKN-10.

I, too, would favor barcons, and probably a set of drop bars with red tape, but Schwinn TwinStiks were an option on Paramounts of that vintage. The Brooks saddle fits right in.

Beautiful bike, nicely equipped. It would be as if Peugeot had made a PX-10 mixte, only better.

It was cold set - when built. The stays do not spread the necessary amount from the headtube to the seattube to create a seamless line to the 120mm dropout spacing (which is quite obvious, given the 5-speed Campag hub with no unusual washer spacing); hence, the stays had to be kinked outwards (during the bike's construction) to match up with the dropouts.

+1, lots of mixtes have this bend on the twin lateral TT extensions

Yep, early Raleigh Record mixtes have an odd asymmetrical bend of the TT extensions. Perfectly normal.

Pretty bike! My only complaint is about the shorty fenders. But whatever.

If it were mine, and I lived in Wisconsin, I'd take the bike to Wastyn's gambling that Oscar Jr. might have some recollection of it. It's special enough and recent enough to be memorable.

The Wastyn website has this Wastyn Special photo showing a single top tube (instead of twin laterals) from the head tube to the seat tube, then lateral mid stays from the seat tube to the dropouts. It appears to be similar vintage as the OP's chrome mixte. It looks the the S-A shifter cable is routed along the down tube to a pulley near the BB shell.

That is indeed a beautiful bike. You don't often see chromed mixte bicycles. Despite the comments on the stem shifters, I'd leave them alone. I even built a bike for my wife recently where I installed stem shifters.

Hi , Thanks for the comments everyone. the bike came from an estate sale in chicago.It has the # 2 28 68 on the bottom bracket. The lock nuts say cam 67 . the front quik release lever is flat. the rear has been replaced. The free wheel also has been replaced its a dura ace 22,20,18,16,14. the front chainrings are stonglight 52/48/40. it had drops on it but the wife needs the upright bars . the twin stiks were on it. I do plan on taking it to the wastyn shop to see if they could shed some light on it. I dont know if they farmed out any of their bikes or not. It rides very nice. thanks for the insite. Pretty awesome bike. I'm sure it was built by Oscar senior and you will get some good feedback at wastyn bikes, they are great people.

Very nice bike. It was built with stem shifters..leave it that way! I have a woman's Fejus with that same shop decal. I do not know how long they used that decal,they may even still be using it. I think my frejus is a 1960's model. I also have an Oscar Waystn Special and another Waystn built bike that was supposed to have belonged to Cecil Yates who was a 6 day paramount rider.
