I don't have a problem with their marketing. It's just a shame they can't do it with wit or originality. As for their frames I can speak only of the ones I have tried; LHT, Pacer, and Cross Check. I'd not buy one and went with something else. For those who like them that's all that matters.

I was looking at the Soma Doublecross but now I think I'm just going to buy a Nashbar alloy touring frame for $99. I've been reading around and asking questions elsewhere. Those who have them say it rides like steel. With their carbon CX fork for another $125. That's like 1/4th the price of the Cross Check and no Surly attitude.

We have now reached the point where I cannot respond without getting surly.

Having moderate success, the angler now tosses the "alloy" and "carbon fiber" chum into the waters in hopes of attracting larger prey. With great anticipation he awaits the first strike.............

This is better than watching Bonefishing in Keys!

Looks like the foul language, immature bickering, and name calling has decided to leave Bike Forums, and is venturing out in search of greener pastures like actual bike company websites now!

Well done, gentlemen!

Haha. I am definitely among their number.
OP, how's the customer service for your vintage frames?

FYI, I bought my Surly when a Jeep T-boned my vintage commuter, and I needed a replacement fast. I love it. (I have a sweet C&V road bike, but I wouldn't subject it to the daily commute.)

In the 54cm size the geometries are identical. And the Fantom CXX is better equipped than the Cross-Check at roughly two-thirds the price.

It is too bad they don't sell the bare frameset.

I don't want their garbage components. I've got boxes full of garbage components at home to make 4 bikes. I just want the frame...

So to be as unclear as possible, if this is your mantra, why are you shopping Surly, Soma & BD? I'm soo lost.

Because for someone who supposedly can't be bothered they certainly let their rage bubble into this thread constantly.

It's like OP expected everyone to Hulk out and got all surly when no one really joined in.
