I thought that was implied. The fit she threw this morning when I had her practice shifting has me wondering how long it will be before I have to remove the deraileurs, shorten the chain, and present her with a fixed speed.

Walked out side yesterday and one of my neighbors was throwing away a Canary Yellow Girls Schwinn Breeze, not in great shape but still has all the original parts.
I'm not a collector but just to clean it up and see if I could get a couple $$ for it I grabbed it (much to wife's dismay), Looks like it was built in the late 60 early 70, all the bolts are standard (not metric) but I haven't gottin around to trying to "date" it yet. |
Someone dropped off a Raleigh super coarse MK II, Carlton on the down tube, hubbs say normandy made in France frame and fork have the 531 stickers ruff but there brooks saddle everything is weinmann Raleigh centre pull brakes ser.#wk6002756 Red and white. Would this be a decent bike?

on the way home from the gym i saw i bike at the curb with a free sign on it and stopped to investigate. it was a Raleigh Delta made in canada sticker. the whole bike except for a tear in the saddle was in very good shape. i happen to have the bike rack on the car (ha) so took it home. it cleaned up quite nicely. sticker says 'raleigh carbospec 45-11 tubing. perfect araya wheels, wenmann model 730 brakes with suicide levers, all suntour drive and shifters, S.I.W. hubs. allloy cranks labeled 'Custom A' steel chainrings and an alloy chain guard. anybody know anything about this model bike?serial # RE5 23506

Music to my ears. I just leave the two-bike hitch rack on the wagon, and the convenience is more than worth the need to unbolt it to access the hatch. The bikes are everywhere, once you have an easy way to transport them. Nice catch, BTW. |

If she needs something, she'll ask me, and I'll wait until nobody is around before opening the door. The mower keeps getting shuffled under, and I have to move bikes to reach it. Must be twelve in there, and parts to build a couple more. This despite the fact that I give away bikes to those who need them all the time. I just hate the idea of these interesting and attractive mechanisms being scrapped, you know? Wanna bike? |

Answered a Craigslist ad from a woman who wanted to swap her old Raleigh for a beater suitable to take to Burning Man. She wasn't exactly sure what model it was, but she thought my '71 Columbia Tourist (which I paid $5.00 for) sounded like what she wanted. Saturday morning she came by and swapped me even up; here's what it was:
1974 Raleigh International - 21 1/2" frame - 700C Aurora rims on Shimano SRX hubs, stainless spokes - Shimano 600 39/52 crankset - Shimano 7-cog 13/24 freewheel - Shimano 600 Arabesque RD and shifters, Suntour FD - Brooks Professional saddle - Weinmann 999 Vainquer centerpulls It needed tires and tubes, cables, and a chain. And no, I didn't put those bars on it. :p http://home.comcast.net/~mswantak/ws...7/site1392.jpg |

I haven't decided what to do with it. My options are; sell it, trade it for something smaller, or take the Campy parts off and put them on a smaller frame. Or, just ride it. If you're interested in the sell or trade part, let me know. |

It's sort of a bittersweet deal; I've wanted an International for a long time, but this one's too small for me. I sort of hate to sell it; it's a safe bet I won't be getting another one for $5.

Here is my Trek 460 that I got at Goodwill for $14. Its the best fitting bike Ive had, blows away my litespeed. Perfect for my everyday work commute. Oh, the brooks I treated myself after finding the Trek:)

Nikos,
Nice ride. 1985 model if my eyes aren't deceiving me. . . edit . actually from the decals I make it an 84 model. 85 just said trek on the downtube Marty |
My catch du jour - a 1975(?) Astra "Tour de France" picked up for a mere $30. Please see my thread on it for more info.
