oh oh i done did it again! another bike, two in two days.! i picked up a near mint bridgestone XO-3. hardly ridden and in great condition. the original mustached bars have been changed out but other than that it is original i think. drive is all shimano exage es, shifters shimano deore, dia-compe xce brakes with ss-4 levers, the stem is a Tranz-x and is adjustable for the angle, it also has integrated bull horns and mirror, bars look like they are something called ODI, pedals sakae MTP-170, sugino cranks and rings 50-40-30., wheels arya cv-7 26x1.50. tires like new 'tom slick' SN F225084 triple butted chro-mo 'croston' ext-ishiwata. made in japan. i think a '94. $75 a lot more than i usually pay for older bikes but couldn't resist. is this a good buy? will put up a picture if anyone is interested.

I bought a single speed mixte frame Crescent for my wife at a pawnshop more than 10 years ago. I couldn't resist the really awesome chainguard. She still rides it almost daily. I think it weighs about 145 pounds, but it is also tough as a tank. For some reason she named the bike "Chico," which doesn't sound very Sweedish to me.

I dunno, I've dated a string of redheads, and they're supposedly rough in the grudge department, but no real problems. Only ex I can think of who absolutely, positively would like to leave my body parts on the porch is a Canadian. I think they're supposed to be the opposite of Texans.

Not all of my exs drop off old bike parts, tho. I'd like to believe most would if given the opportunity.

Remember: most of us in Canuckland are from *southern* Canada... ;)

OK, I had a change of heart and kept the Triumph to tinker around with.
- Just completed my first attempt at cottered crank removal... yay!

It has an interesting mix of components, I wonder what's original:

Huret mechs, Sturmey Archer hubs (red-logo Raleigh nuts on rear), Raleigh cranks, sprung Schwinn saddle, Regina Extra Oro freewheel (13-22), and Weinmann brake shoes on side-pull calipers that simply say 'Made in England'.
The BB was interesting: the spindle has a Raleigh logo, but there was a plastic DuraAce sleeve in the shell - didn't expect to find that!

I'm still trying to determine the age of the bike. I found one serial # on a dropout. I think it translates to 1966, but I could be wrong. It wasn't really the rattling rustbucket I originally thought, just very dirty and neglected.

My new catch of the day ist this NOS black Dura Ace front and rear Hub set. It will fit perfectly on by Austro Daimler Vent Noir witch is equiped with all black Dura Ace.

Mid-'80s Fuji Touring Series III. Quad-butted CrMo frameset, all alloy components, canti brakes. Nice little bike, but it sat outside a house over near the ocean for 10 years or so. None of the alloy is corroded, but the frame definitely has some rust issues. Looks like I've got another repaint project. Anybody know where I can get some decals? ;)

That frame makes the Centurian IronMan Expert that TheCahill and I worked on this month look like showroom floor new. Good luck on the repaint.

And speaking of Centurians - here's my new ebay find. $35 for a lightly used Sport DLX. Soon to be repainted and re-named the "Barracuda Mk. I" Came to me with Suntour AR deralleurs, six speed freewheel, alloy rims with sealed hubs, and uses Tange Infinity tubing. Currently disassembled and primered for new paint.

A friend gave me this old 50 or 60 single speed. been riding around town all week on it. says ccm on the crank ond rear brake lever, SCP Standard cycling products ltd Toronto Can. on the badge Cant count how many people have told me it looks alot like the one they rode when they were a kids.

I picked up a Nishiki Rally from a swap meet. It seems to be sporting the OE sugino/suntour drivetrain and dia compe brakes, but the kid I bought it from had put on some alu wheels and a shimano 7spd cassette. I plan on putting on some fenders and using it for the winter commute. Once it survives that I'll treat it to a fresh paint job.

I'm guessing early 80's, but if anyone knows more please let me know.

Fate on my side today! Was thinking about finding an old steel lugged frame for about a week. Then suddenly today i decided to check out this flee market. Guess what ! A Colnago Superissimo, Record hubs w Mavic GP4 sew-ups, NR RD, Campy HS and BB, Strada crank, Superbe brakes, Cinelli stem and bars and a Selle Italia white leather saddle (with "gold" trim), 14 spd. Some rust all over (even the chromed lugs) , paint in poor shape and decals were 2 of 10. How much? $10.... OK $7. But the tires are trashed :)

Anyone know what the "G" on the fork crown mean?

Fuji Saratoga, found for free, dirrrrrty. (Well, it was...)

Nice find! almost bought a saratoga on Ebay around last christmas as a winter project... now I wish I had bought it! Fuji's old paint jobs seem to be of a very good quality and durability.

Funny how I got it - I was riding to the store and passed the guy, he was cleaning out the garage and I noticed the bike - circled back around and took a closer look, and continued on.

On the way back home, there it was, against the tree - sprinted home and raced back with the car.

yeah, I found a bunch of old wheels like that this spring. I saw a guy moving a whole bunch of stuff around in his garage on a saturday, noted the address and then came back the night before garbage day... 2 in the messenger bag, one on the straps under the flap, and one in each hand. Luckily I lived nearby.

The rims were all steel, but the cones and axles were in perfectly good shape...

Must be garbage day. Went to the auction this am, nothing but a bunch of kid's Huffys and Pacifics. Not that I have anything against 'em, I just don't want 'em, and if I let the dealers at the kids bikes, mountain bikes and cruisers, they tip me off to old roadies. Seems none of them can sell old roadies.

At any rate, I was tooling home at a slow pace thru one of Southside's tony neighbourhoods, and I glance down a side street. Lo and behold, there's a bike leaning up against the kerb, along with a grill... it's trash collection day. Curious, I tool over and find this old Urago. Fairly beat and rusty, but frame looks okay. Fork may be a replacement. Appears to be a UO8 equivalent, I'd guess early to mid seventies. Nervar cottered cranks, Pivo stem, Excellto hubs (uncommon) on steel rims, Mafac racer brakeset with the half-hoods still reasonable. Stronglight style serrated washer headset. Unfortunately, the Ideale saddle is just about gone. A couple of odd additions: Mathhauser (sp?) brake pads, and "record" toe clips, Italian made. Guessing not campy, but I don't know campy that well.

Unfortunately, the darn thing is my size, but the price was right. The worst I'll get out of it is some French parts. The best might be some sort of burning man style fixed gear to drive Mswantak crazy ;). It might also wind up being my spare beater fixie frame if the UO8 gets nicked. Heck if I know, the project pile keeps growing. With any luck this week will be French week, after last week's sterling Japanese week.

Nah, I needed to leave more space in case anyone else tossed a bike... like colinm, I left the bike there and hauled home to get my car, and was relieved the bike was still there.

Plus, I don't collect old grills :D
