Who makes the helmet that the kid wears in that movie?

I'd go take a look to figure out, but that would mean I would have to expose myself to that movie again. Once was far too many times.

I thought it was a Bern.

Won't look at the movie again, though.

I remember it being a Bern. You don't have to see him shoot snakes from his eyes again.

I like my Bern Brentwood. No wings, though. In fact, I removed the white branding. Looks mo' bettah now.

I can't stand the mushroom head look. I don't think I've worn any kind of helmet besides the one the Army made me wear.

I didn't find the movie as offensive as some seem to. I've seen better, but I've seen a lot worse.

It looks like the Squid Pro is just a version of the Brentwood with a visor and stickers that I don't want. Thanks, guys.

Not really an offensive movie.

Just not terribly engaging.

Are you looking for a helmet? If so, the Brentwood can be purchased in plain black. And with the standard liner, which has no visor. But the summer liner is extra.
I got a screaming deal on mine too, as I think they were discontinuing the gloss black version. Fairly comfortable too. And I think I like the fact that it provides more coverage than my Giro "mushroom".

Well, I never know what might be obvious on your posts, GB.

Let's see… I think I ordered them when Oddjob , was it?…posted a link to a sale. Must've been REI, eh, Oddjob? Cripes…they were like 60% off or something. I bought 2. As online reviews state though, beware of sizing. I bought one size larger based on reviews and they fit pretty well.
Not perfect, a little snug, but pretty close.

RB,

I like the look, but I've passed on Bern due to lack of vent holes and the black color.

Also, I prefer a visor.

I tend to do distance riding at this point and couldn't imagine a black helmet on a four hour ride.

What say you? You have the experience with this brand.

Get yourself a Kevlar-

I don't know if you're a "steel pot" guy or a "K-pot" kind of guy. Myself, when I was a kid, had steel pot and liner in Basic and AIT, but K-pot at every duty station.

For some reason, command was always testy when it came to guys riding motorcycles wearing their Kevlars. I don't know of anyone riding bicycles wearing their Kevlars- but I'm sure it made them think "safety first."

I've never heard of a K-pot. Before my time. I was a nuclear weapons maintenance tech, so I never wore a pot after basic.

Well, I can't say I do distance riding, Gomango. But good point about the black. They come in lighter colors too. The Brentwood does have vent holes in it. The other helmet I bought…just because they were so damed on sale, was the Baker, I think. Molded in visor, and no vents. I like the Brentwood better. When I bought my Brentwood it had the visor liner attached. But I bought a summer liner as I found the visor sort of limited visibility with head down and pumping hard. Not that I pump that hard anymore. The liners seem to be a bit hard to find online for some reason. I mean, they're available, but I just had my LBS order me two summer liners. They were happy to stick them on an a big order and charged me no freight.

You said yours is snug. Should I order the "normal" XXL?

Helpful info RB.

Our boys are slated for new helmets this spring.

I've got a pretty open mind on these matters.

They've been asking for Berns or anything else that doesn't look like dad's Bells.

Kids nowadays.

The Berns were ordered for under $30 each on 1/9/2013. The XL did not fit my oval shaped skull so well, so I ordered the Nutcase on 2/15/2013. According to the middle schoolers, I have the coolest helmet.

At REI.COM, check both the regular stock and the outlet specials, sale prices sometimes are better at the retail vs. outlet tab. Also, if you are not a member, the $20 lifetime deal is hard to beat. I signed up in 1971.

The Bern Brentwood is listed in the REI outlet for $69.73 and not in anything near my size. If I could find it for around $30 I'll order right away. El Cerrito is the only city in California with an ordinance that requires adults to wear a helmet and I ride through there often.

It's also that I'm thinking that my reactions are not as quick as they used to be. I crashed my truck yesterday.
