Cilo bottle boss issues?

So I got a Cilo road bike with 6 speed Dura Ace 7400 group and I love the thing but the seat tube bottle bosses seem poorly spaced! I am wondering if anyone else has had these problems or problems like this on older bikes in general? The down tube bosses are just fine but the seat tube ones are just a hair off.

It is a shame I just bought some cages (one is an actual Jim Blackburn and the other is just Blackburn USA but probably from the same era) and I could only mount one. Would I be a complete heretic if I filed a little material from the non JB marked cage to make it fit properly? I know it sounds benign and maybe silly but I am honestly curious because I hate ruining old stuff.

Bikes: 1986 Alan Record Carbonio, 1985 Vitus Plus Carbone 7, 1984 Peugeot PSV, 1972 Line Seeker, 1986(est.) Medici Aerodynamic (Project), 1985(est.) Peugeot PY10FC

I suspect that the bosses are too close to each other? It could be either be a factory defect, or the last owner might have added the seat tube bosses and did not measure carefully before drilling the holes for them.
Just Dremel the holes/slots on the water bottle base a little longer/bigger.....

in fact cages often were made with one of the holes an oval rather than round just so that slightly mis-spaced bosses could be made to fit. Don't worry about "ruining" something like this in order to allow it to be used. I'm sure Jim Blackburn wouldn't worry.

I think you are being silly. Drill the non-JB cage and don't give it another thought.

When I install water bottle boses, I space them at 63mm ctc. Then silver braze them in.

Sounds good, I will get a little material from the cages and see if I can get them to work. I just needed some moral support.

Well, for moral support, those Cilo's with the 6-sp DA were often Columbus SLX frames, and with chrome forks. Very nice bikes. I've not seen a low-end Cilo.

Let's see some pics of that Cilo, by the way.

I am currently having a love affair with my early 70s Cilo. It gets regular commuter duty, and enjoy it more and more each day. I usually ride it loaded with gear and/or a child's trail-a-bike, and yet it still feels nimble and quick. Climbing a hill, I am reminded of Henry Miller's description of an erection (does Internet Brands think that's worthy of censure?; let's see if we've gotten anywhere in the 50 years since Grove Press, Inc. v. Gerstein): "It feels light and heavy at the same time, like a piece of lead with wings on it."
