You would think that after time, I would learn to buy stuff I actually need, eh? For a while, I stocked up on hard-to-find parts before I needed them, like French-threaded headsets. But I haven't built up a French bike in many years. What was I thinking?

Tell me about it, I have a surplus of decent 27" tires and wheels, replica Schwinn saddles, and front derrailuers for some reason. Not a decent road triple crankset though, could use 5 or more in the coffers.

I just looked at my parts inventory and I think I could have something functional by tonight. It sure won't be pretty, and definitely not period correct, unless the period spans 25 years.

Let's see, I've got five unbuilt frames on hand, and I could easily build five (not very good) bikes from all the parts I have sitting around in boxes and drawers. Stuff I haven't bothered trying to sell simply because it's not worth very much.

Not going to be joining this challenge, however, as I'm trying to finish my current Velo Cheapo entry at this time and it has a couple of new and new used bits I special ordered for it, so it doesn't qualify.

I got a super record group looking for a frame; the frame I bought for it was too new so of to the classifieds I went.

A nice set of aerobars. Never going to do a tri because I loathe swimming.

a cool univega frame perfect for a drop bar mtb, but it's with a 1" headtube and J can't find a fork I like.

a 28 hole SA hub I keep for bought for obscure reasons.

Found a shimano Deore 8 speed with triple front set up and enough bottle generators to power this walkman cassette player with weather station.

Velocovixen's recent thread on storing spare parts motivated me to organize my parts bin. A lot of these items were jumbled together in ziplock bags in giant storage containers until a few months ago. Didn't find too many surprises, but now I can actually find what I'm looking for!

Rather than looking for new acquisitions, my goal this winter is to organize and overhaul what I have, and finish a couple projects in the wings (Look KG86 and Peugeot PX10). Those two builds will have to await a convergence of time, money and motivation (PX10 needs new paint).

5 days left to come up with a complete bike! I'll start a new thread on Sunday to post the actual bikes. I've managed to put mine together so far without purchasing a single thing, the only part I'm struggling with is cable crimps, can't find them anywhere. Don't want to use the LBS for stupid cable crimps when I've found everything else!

Funny typo. It's Wolber, with the L before the B. These rims don't wobble unless they're damaged.

Why would I hoard parts and build more bikes when I can live vicariously through you guys?

Seriously, though, my shop is pretty crowded with several hobbies, just not all bike stuff.

Long John, looks like a seriously nice bike build you have coming along. Can't wait to see the finished product.

This thread makes me think I ought to take a good inventory and count how many bikes I can make with stuff on hand.

I'd have loved to join, as I've been accumulating parts for several projects for quite some time now and I'm dying to start on at least four of them.

However, no time this week.
