The arm is still broken. It's out of the splint, and as of Monday, out of the sling, but the doctor said I'm not to put weight on it or lift things with it for the full 6 weeks, including cycling (the orthopedic is a cyclist, so he was very specific about that) About 2 1/2 weeks to go. My bikes are getting restless though.

bad weather yesterday, but it was beautiful today so i doubled up:

5/23 morning: 12.33 miles @ 11.98mph
5/23 evening: 13.26 miles @ 12.1mph

MTD 115.27/110

104.79% Complete

this was my first month riding so i set the bar at the minimum, next month i'm going to up the number. i think i'm going to take the rest of the month to work on shorter, faster rides to see if i can get my speed up.

Make that shorter faster rides IN THE MIDDLE of the longer ride and you got yourself an interval.
That will help and in a short order of time you'll shout out 'Kapooya!'

i actually started doing this a little and it actually helps my legs. whenever i start getting beat and coasting a little it gets a lot worse than if i just try to grind out a little sprint. i rode 10+ miles for the first time tuesday and then rode 12 and 13 miles today. i overcooked it a little bit, so i think i'm going to cut back a little on distance or just do once a day for a little bit and let my quads recover some. they're not really too sore, but there just isn't the juice in them that there should be.

5/19: 12.53
5/20: 23.83
5/21: 11.27
5/22: 26.94 (I passed 400 miles in one month for the first time.)
5/23: 31.33

I added some mileage manually to fix my 2 mile screwup from my Metric.

MTD - 432.93

YTD - 922

My 440 goal will be met tonight. Looking at my planned rides this weekend and next week, I think with a little push 600 miles could happen.

5/6 - 11.6
5/8 - 13.3
5/16 - 14.1
5/18 - 27.2
5/21 - 11.9
5/24 - 2.3 a dismal MTB ride... I haven't ridden off road in over a year and it's been 3 since I did it with any regularity... apparently the trail I went to is the most difficult in the area, its very rooty with lots of roller coaster type up and downs... I also changed a number of things on my MTB that I seriously need to dial in... and lastly I snapped my chain... GRR... it'll be a little while before I venture back out on the trail... and I'll goto one of the easier more flowing single track trails next time.

80.4 miles MTD
28.6 miles to go

Weather has turned cold, wet and windy. Thought my streak of riding daily was gonna be rained out. But the rain stopped long enough to get 10 1/2 miles in, my streak continues at 12 days. At 414 miles for the month, goal is 500. Down 3 pounds. Hoping for a warmer tomorrow.

Nice slow commute https://app.strava.com/activities/56086720 to work today. Great weather in the afternoon and work was dead before the three-day weekend so took off about an hour early. Total mileage for the day 92.6 miles. Wife met me with the team car (a.k.a family mini-van) about 5 miles from home at a local cafe. Overall a great day.

Total mileage for the month so far is 1,835 miles and still in 16th place in the Strava May Massive challenge

so i rode to my lbs to get my bike checked up after the first month yesterday:

5.05 miles @ 14.26 mph

they told me it would probably take a day to get it back to me, so i had to ride back home into the wind so i could turn around and drive it back:

5.86 miles @ 10.46 mph

i picked it up today and had them do a quick refitting. turns out my seat was an 1"+ low, so hopefully that explains why my quads have been so bad lately. i definitely felt a lot better with it higher. went for a quick ride around a busy path to try it out today:

5.35 miles @ 12.3 mph

i definitely am taking a break tomorrow to let my legs recover from probably a month of riding too low.

MTD 131.53/110 miles

119.57% complete

Backus Road metric century via 30th Street West. Wind was awful the last 25 miles. From the front right quarter. Enough from the front to trash my speed, enough from the side to get a lot of bike handling skill practice. No fun when wind so strong. Temperature was very nice. Not too cool, not too hot.

Top half in Strava's "May Massive"... just barely.
