It rained this morning, but stopped, so I rode 20 miles. Kinda tired from yesterday's ride and the annual "moving of the firewood" to get ready for winter.

Goal: 200 miles

Took yesterday off to recover from my intervals session, got out there this morning for a nice tempo ride. Got in 35.1 km with the middle 25 km at just over 14 mph moving average, pretty good for me for this particular route. More impressive too me was that I no longer go anaerobic on the short 8% climb on one part of it, a great sign of progress.

August 25 - 35.1km
MTD - 458.5km / 450km
TTD - 832.8km

Put together a string of 25 mile days and pushed my monthly total to 432 miles. Reaching my goal of 500 miles should be easy now. Although I can't figure why these rides are getting harder to do. Thought old age would creep in more slowly.

Back from a weeks vacation at the beach. Not sure how folks can ride a bike in those kind of conditions. The only terrain was where I had to go across the Intercoastal Waterway. That made the elevation gain on a century spike up as I had to cross it twice.

That place is less than FLAT! Couldn't live there.

Count: 6 Activities
Distance: 297.83 mi
Time: 14:54:32 h:m:s
Avg Speed: 20.0 mph
Avg HR: 134 bpm
Avg Bike Cadence: 88 rpm
Elevation Gain: 2,175 ft

Totals:

August:
Running: 49.8 miles/ 2,065' gain
Ridding: 914 mi / 36,138' gain

YTD:
Running: 332.5 mi / 16,420' gain
Ridding: 4,028 mi / 217,479' gain

+680 miles on the stupid trainer.

Went out for a ride with a couple of friends today. The ride was around a local park so I dusted off the MTB - first time I've ridden it meaningfully in many many months. After lunch my friends left to do some other stuff so I took the scenic route home, a route I've cycled many times but in reverse. Playing on the muddy trails reminded me how much I loved my mountain bike... now I just need to rearrange stuff so it doesn't take an age swapping accessories from the tricross to the MTB. Nearly lost control a couple of times as I banked a little too hard in the mud but managed to keep it upright. Then going through a different park I stuck to the roads because the trails were just so busy, and passed a lady cyclist on a rather nice Bianchi road bike going up a hill. It was good to be able to do that on my mountain bike...

(fixed YTD total, somehow I gained 7 miles on it)

Aug 03 - 25 miles
Aug 06 - 51 miles
Aug 12 - 28 miles
Aug 14 - 70 miles
Aug 18 - 33 miles
Aug 18 - 2 miles
Aug 19 - 30 miles
Aug 21 - 37 miles
Aug 23 - 31 miles
Aug 26 - 38 miles

MTD 345/352
YTD 2438/3107

I don't know the miles, I broke 509 kilometers for the month. Trying to assault Mountain Springs on HWY 160 in southern Nevada. 3500' of climbing in 12 miles. The last 4 miles has 900'. I got the the last climb (the 4 miles stretch and coasted downhill-at record pace. Next week.

SIX days later I got back on the bike, the longest I've gone in between rides since April, and rode further than I expected to. Initially I was just planning on 10 or 12 miles. Decided to map out a new route to try this weekend consisting of 35-45 miles.

8/27: 19.4 Miles. (Should have made it an even 20...Oh well.)

MTD: 204.1 Miles (Goal: 300 Miles - Very unlikely to happen again this month.)
YTD: 913.7 Miles (Goal: 1,000 Miles - This is still possible as I will probably still be riding through October)
