What have you found on the ground while riding?

Last week, on the bridge right by the train station, there was a big piece of a steel leaf spring at the side of the road, right where I ride. It was a piece big enough to potentially cause me serious problems if I couldn't go around it, and when there's a lot of traffic I might not be able to go around it. So I went back and moved it off the road, which I could barely do with one hand, that's how big it was. After doing that, I realized I had left it in the grass that sooner or later would get mowed by the county maintenance department, and they might not see it. So now, every time I go by there in daylight, I'm looking for this piece of leaf spring so I can move it again, and I haven't seen it again. Could someone have taken it? Seems strange....

Wow, that guy gets around!
This guy lives on my commute www. Velo Rambler .com | Musings of a bicycle tourer (warning SLOWEST WEBSITE EVER -- I think this guy must serve it out of his basement off a Pentium II with a 9600 baud modem)

Yup; when we were moving the shop, I swept out the fabrication area and one of the scrappers clearing out some damaged racking went over my dirt pile with a big magnet to get all the nails, screws and other bits of steel before I got back with the dustpan.

Dentures. Yep. Someone's whole grill just layin' in the street.
Also, black snake sunning on the trail... bump bump. Also, mating squirrels. Thump! I hate running over living things but 1) that snake was basically over the whole trail and I thought it was a stick, and 2) well, someone zigged instead of zagged, and basically ran under my wheel.
I've been finding bikes in the river behind my office. Nothing worth keeping but good to get out of the river anyway. I'm sure they're stolen and dumped, or in the case of the Walmart fixie, dumped out of frustration with components breaking.

Had to get out my leatherman to get it out. The tube is still holding.

And that reminds me of a auto tire incident I once had.
As I was walking up to the car, I just happened to notice a metal rod protruding from it;
It looked something like a piece of bare welding rod.
I crossed my fingers and pulled about three inches of rod out of the tire.
It had apparently hit the underlying plies in the sidewall at such a shallow angle, that it just burrowed along between the rubber and the plies, almost reaching the bead.
I pulled it out and there was no leak.

Bikes: A few older US made Cannondales, a modern Soma Saga (no longer made, alas!), and one gifted crabon Specialized. Never enough.
A roll of 3M 33+ electrical tape, barely used. Of course, this was two days after I purchased a new roll of 88 grade tape! Either way, stocked up for a while now.

This morning I saw a ladies black leather handbag on the side of the road in the tall grass. Of course it was while on a mile long climb with a 7% average grade and no shoulder. I didn't stop.

It would make a good anvil, or steel for forging. Knife blades? Bells or chimes?
Heavy stuff can also be handy.
