I've got 2 Raleigh twenties (a green one that is operational and a brown one that's a WIP), 2 Schwinn Town & Country Trikes (a 1980 WIP, and a 2007), a 1988 Specialized Sirrus, a 2007 Specialized Sirrus 700c hybrid, and a 1989 Alpine Monitor pass hardtail that has been hybridized. So it's seven.

I've had 20 total, but only 4 now.
A mid '90s Specialized Hard Rock refitted with fenders, rack, lights for use as a commuter. A Giant Stiletto chopper, fun but not practical An early '70s American Eagle/Nishiki 10 speed. A womens Free Spirit Brittany for a beater bike. The Free Spirit Brittany went to the bike coop. Now in addition to the other three, I have a ghost bike, someone gave me a reggae painted Murray frame, I got a very nice Kabuki that a co-worker left behind and bought myself a Bacchetta Giro 20 recumbent and a Bikes to Work trailer. |
Nine. The first 5 are "my" bikes (the first 3 I've ridden to work on), the last 4 are project bikes that are too small for me and will be sold eventually.
1. 1994 Nishiki Sport XRS (primary commuter) 2. 1983 Raleigh Marathon 3. 1966 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist 3-speed roadster 4. 1973 Schwinn Varsity Sport 5. 1984 Schwinn World Sport (fixie project down the road) 6. 1970 Sears (made in Austria) ladies frame bike (5-speed + overdrive) 7. 1960 Hawthorne Hercules 3-speed cruiser 8. 1989 Schwinn Sprint ladies frame bike (current project) 9. 1981 Fuji Royale EDIT: That'll teach me to post and vote before reading the first post.... I guess "bikes that I actually ride" would only be the first 4, so I guess I need to revise my answer down from 9 to 4. EDIT AGAIN: I've ridden the 1970 Sears around the neighborhood somewhat while working on it, so maybe my number is......... 5? |
I have 6 working bikes
1. Schwinn Super Le Tour- Single speed conversion. Bike meet/ weekend bike. 2. Dawes SST- My babe. Bike meet/ weekend bike. 3. Schwinn Le Tour. Commuter/ Weekend bike. 4. Motobecane Nomad. Commuter/ weekend bike 5. Puch Meteor Luxe. Commuter bike. 6. Alpine Guadalupe. Trail bike/ commuter. 7. Edgewood Diamondback comfort bike. Commuter/ weekend bike. 8. Old C.Itoh roadbike. Piece of junk, will be a single speed conversion commuter by this weekend. 9. Next Street Cruiser. 10. Schwinn Hinge. 20 inch folder bike. 11. Flying Pigeon. 16 inch folder bike. Oh wait! Thats 11! I'm gonna craigslist the 2 folders and the Next cruiser since I don't hardly ride them anymore. I'll see how the C.Itoh comes along after the single speed conversion. She'll either be a good commuter or junked. Ernest |
Well, since somebody dredged this thread up from the dead, here's my stable, in order of how often they are ridden:
1. Bob Jackson World Tour, my main commuter bike. 2. Eddy Merckx AX, my ride for weekends and long distances. 3. De Bernardi SL, my fixe/SS conversion that I usually ride to work once a week. 4. Merckx Corsa 01, my backup road bike that ain't getting enough love. 5. Specialized Rockhopper, my mountainbike that I ride about once a year. |
I voted for 6. I actually own more, but they are my 'inventory' since I'm kind of an amateur bike flipper.
Commuters: 1)Giant TranSend, 2008 2)GT Talera, 1993 winter beater commuting bike Pleasure: 3)Specialized Sirrus, 1990 - one heck of a fast road bike 4)Cannondale T400, 1994 - my most beautiful bike Sentimental: 5)Puch Brigadier, 1973 - my father's first real road bike. Then my first. 6)Rampar R4, 1977ish - Dad found it next to a dumpster. Grabbed it and refurbed it for me when I was a kid. |

2. 2000 KHS Flite Team 2000, very light and fast bike. I'm going to convert it to a double crankset and try riding it on days when it's not going to rain. 3. 1999 Fisher Mamba, hardtail mountain bike and sometimes winter commuter. Since I've got my wife her road bike we just don't get out on the trails any more... 4. 2008 Ritchey Breakaway Cyclocross - currently building this bike, which I bought for travel and so we can do the C&O Canal to Harper's Ferry this summer. |

Specialized road bike (commuter). Tri Ax road bike. ( For short trips-no worry about theft) Schwinn Jaguar IV ( Fenders for rain...50 years old & looking good) Tandem Mt Bike (Snow) |
My Collection
I have the following :
1. Mountain Bikes - Cannondale SE 2000, Jaguar MT5300, Bridgestone Slugger 2. Commuter Bicycles (Frackers, Folders, & Cruisers) Assorted Sizes - Bridgestone, National, Panasonic, Miyata, Maruishi (Frackers), Trek (Classic Cruiser), and other brands (Folders) You can check them out at my flickr account here |
I have 2 currently. Hoping to pick up a 3rd steel-framed solid-fork mtn bike to turn into the all weather commuter.
Currently have: 2001 Cannondale F500 Hardtail - was the jack of all trades commuter/grocery getter until I got the following. 1984 Motobecane Mirage Sport Road bike - the sporty fair weather commuter. I live with 2 room mates, and between all 3 of us we have 5 bicycles. |
Seven that I can throw a leg over and get a move on. Three not counted that are disassembled, needing overhaul/reassembly, including a Vitus and Somec from the 80's...
3 of the fleet are fixed gear. I use 'em all on the commute, except for the Kestrel, which has spindly, go fast wheels not exactly suited for carrying a heavy load... |
6 bikes and counting....
1. '98 Sunn Revolt - steel race hardtail, raced it alot in the early '00s 2. '98 Specialized Stumpjumper - converted commuter/grocery getter with rear racks, recently powdercoated. I ride it daily to work and around town. 3. '99 Bianchi Campione - my roadbike to get training miles in 4. '03 Giant NRS Team - full suspension "race" but I don't race anymore 5. '04 Interloc Tempest - 853 steel 2x9 rigid fun bike w/a spare wheelset shod with slicks 6. '08 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR - recent purchase, been riding this one on the trails lately. A little more plush than the NRS. Luckily I have a garage to store and work on them and a girlfriend who understands my obsession. |
1)2007 Marin Point Reyes for commuting and any road riding
2) Raleigh tarantula for beating around and studded tires for fooling around in the snow 3) Norco Katmandu for daughter #1 4) Norco Scourcher for daughter #2 5) An old Raleigh 6 speed that my wife cant ride anymore so we loaned it to a friend |
Last count, 10. Gave away two to family members for Christmas. 1 commuter/heavy duty hauler, 1 fixed gear, all the rest (8) are vintage cruisers.
