Ten are mine. Two are my wife's.

There are currently 16 ridable in the stables.
7 road bikes, 3 MTN bikes, 1 cyclocross bike and 5 recumbents, 2 of which are trikes, one of which is a tandem. Then there's the wifes 1 bike and the kids assortment of bikes, trikes & pedal cars! All in a 2 car garage, along with my painting stuff, both house & bike, my wood shop, metal shop, train collections (LGB & Thomas), slot car collection, T-shirt collection, my office and assorted other garage stuff, icluding enough bike parts for at least 4 or 5 more bikes! :D |

Maybe too many but they all get ridden on a regular basis commuter - 83 Schwinn Passage converted to fixie with moustache bar, fenders, rack and lights - used most days for commuting "track" bike - 05 Mercier Kilo TT, added a front brake and bull horn bars - used in nice weather for commuting and short recreational rides MTB - Pugsley, single speed ultra fat tire bike - off-road riding and snow commuting recumbent - Bacchetta Strada, fast comfortable laid back bike - long recreational rides and centuries tandem - Fuji Shangri-La for Two, cruiser tandem - family rides around the neighborhood with wife and daughter in tow on trailer. I think every bike got used at least 20-30 times last year. Everything except the tandem and MTB saw over 1000 miles. Some of the bikes didn't see heavy usage but none were idle. I know of alot of single bike owners who used their bike lot less. Craig Craig |
Normally I have 3. But as of this moment I have 8, most of which need to go! There's no point in having them if you're not going to ride them - but sometimes they're just too good to pass up.

I tell people around town i paint all of my bikes red/yellow so my wife can not tell how many i have,it must work cause she starting grilling me one day while her friend looked on,as they walk on my wife says he has to many bikes for me to keep up with. I only have three red/yellow

2006 Roubaix Elite for long Saturday club rides and races.
2006 Giant Annimator without training wheels for my 5 year old. 2004 Huffy Rock-It with training wheels for my 3 year old. 2001 Specialized Stumpjumper Mountain Bike not ridden as much in the last few years. 1996 Giant Iguana 650 Mtn Bike that my wife rides about once a month. 1992 Cannondale R600 Fixed Gear Conversion with 42-15 setup that I use cruising around town. 1950's or 60's(?) Capo Modell Campagnolo used on special occasions. |

Interesting results graph, typical bell curve but it appears that once you possess 8 bikes, your bike immune system is overwhelmed & the # of bikes increases again. Don

There's twenty-six bikes in the garage,plus three or four that are awaiting repair for charity donation.
Of the 17 bikes that are mine..I only ride six of them each and every year. Trek Antelope 820 (Commuter)....ride it lots Raleigh Marathon......................ride often Schwinn 354 (Road)..................ride often Burley Tandem (Mtn.)................couple times per year, used to ride often w/the kids(they grew up) Raleigh C-40(Comfort)...............ride often Schwinn Town & Country(Trike)..Occasionally when visiting with neighbors (don't take it far) The rest of the fleet is all in good repair, but one can only keep so many readilly available.It is nice to have a variety of rides available. Regardless of my mood (fast, slow, whatever), there's always something in the garage to satisfy my need. Oh yes, thank goodness for a very understanding wife. |

I've got two. On the one hand, I kinda go "WOW how could you have 17 bikes?" but on the other hand, my friend at one point had almost 10 cars... I've got a beater hybrid I use for commuting, and a fixie I rebuilt myself... it looks cool, but for some reason I don't find it very comfortable. So while it is totally rideable, I don't ride it much. |
I have three bikes currently.
1) long distance commuter based on a road bike frame with a rack and fenders and lower gearing, newly re-built after an accident which claimed the frame. 2) a short distance commuter; a Raleigh Rush Hour fixed gear, my latest acquisition for city riding. 3) a true road bike, currently set up for fast day cruises with the cycling club, but can be stripped down for light racing. After I had to replace the frame on my long distance commuter, this is now my oldest bicycle. In the next year or so, I expect to be building up a touring bike which will play double as a heavy duty, low maintainance, winter commuter, complete with internal geared hub and front and rear racks. That's my current project; it is still in the planning stages. |
Three for me.
The "A" bike, the main commuter, a Trek 4300 with the classic milk crate attached to the rear rack, a 5 amp-hour battery in a wooden box bolted to the frame, and a 20-watt halogen headlight, and fenders of course. The "old-man" errand bike. This is a Schwinn Suburban that I got for free because the shifter was broken beyond repair. It is locked into a single speed, and at some point I will convert it to a real single-speed or put on an internal hub. It is used for errands because it is (I hope) less of a target for theft. The "multi-modal" winter beater. This is new and not completely on-line. It is a used Diamondback something-or-other, a bit of rust, some chips on the paint. It has less stuff on it so I can lift it onto the bike rack on the city bus and extend my operating range. It can be used as it is, but I want fenders, lights, and a more comfortable seat before I use it regularly. In November, it will get studded tires and be the winter beater, so I can become a four-season biker and earn my coveted winter certification. |

2-mtb 3-road bike 4-wife's so fleet totals 4, 3 are "mine" i guess The commuter gets about 5000 miles/yr, the mtb maybe 500 miles, the road bike.... not much. may sell it. |
1) 06 Specialized Rockhopper which I used for road rides, mtn rides, and for commuting when I tried that. After 2,600ish miles on it I still don't feel comfortable on it so I'll likely end up selling it somewhere down the road.
2) 06 Giant Rincon. Originally I bought it for mountain biking, but with certain medical problems that have come up, I won't be mountain biking for quite some time so when I do start riding again the rincon will be my main ride as it fits me much better than the rockhopper. Eventually I'm going to get myself a recumbent, but that probably won't happen until next year. |
1: Race rig. Cannondale CAAD8 with Record and PTSL
2: Commuter/TT double duty rig. I just popped off the stem/bullhorns/spikes/tt shifters and put on a stem/bar/centaur shifters, adjusted the seat and I ride that to commute. I use it to TT on because its a smaller frame and so in a stage race I dont have to readjust my main #1 bike to TT 3: IRO fixed gear, phil hubs, record pista cranks 4: Cannondale 29'er upgraded with Juicy 7's and X-9 shifters 5: Planning, cutting, building, welding, painting (well sending it off to paint) custom steel. Probably replacing #1. I also plan on building/welding a cross bike with couplers. |
Not counting the tadpole trike of course.

Put me down for two bikes.
Trek 7.3 FX- Used for smooth/dry/clean/paved rides. Trek 4500- Used for play/beater/wet/mud/dirt rides. I sold my Trek 4300 a month ago and regretted not having a back-up bike. I fixed that just today buying the 4500. Cheers, TR |
