You want a frame pump. Consult your bike shop to make sure. I've been satisfied with all my Axiom products so far.

Most likely some sort of compact Axiom fits that distance. That's a real oddball though. NEVER seen a frame pump of compact design that is intended to fit between the mounts of that sort. They usually rely on a water bottle eyelet mounting bracket.

The Topeak Road Morph is the best pump to take with you as it works like a floor pump with its hose connected to the valve. It will fit in your trunk bag.

question about your new rack: Is the idea that the quick release skewer fits through the eyelet in the lower mounting bracket? I would think that'd be a pain in the even of a flat tire, hence my question.

Bikes: Too darn many.. latest count is 11

Is the bottom a setback that uses the QR, or does it use the threaded holes near the dropouts? Hard to tell from the pics.

How does the top attach? I don't have lugs near the seatstays, my road bike is too dainty Not particularly warm and fuzzy about the clamps that go to the seatpost, dunno if my CF seatpost will like that much.

I think the reason it states not to use a trunk bag is that its advertised as "narrow for better balance and control" and might be too skinny to support a loaded trunk bag in a stable position. I could be wrong, but that's what I gleaned from my reading about it.

I need to get out and do some measuring, because I've wanted to put a rack on my road bike for a while (I bought it used and it came with a rack, but the rack is FAR too close to me for it to be functional with anything other than a trunk bag). This might just be what I need, and it won't break the bank.

Does that rack attach to the seat post? I see the bottom two attachments, but where is the third point of contact?

The "setback" of the lower attachment point looks a little dicey, to me. Weight on the rack = twisting shear forces on that lower pair of screws. 50 kg? That's over 100 lbs, right? I'm skeptical, to say the least.

I am also interested in this rack so I am waiting on your review! I am thinking about a trunk bug that can be converted into Panniers if needed. I will be mounting on a Lemond Reno that does not have braze ons.

I couldn't wait for your review so I went ahead and ordered the rack along with some inexpensive Avenir Metro panniers. I assume I will need to modify the attachment mechanism on the panniers to make it more secure to the rack but it should be easy.

Nothing like turning a full fledged road bike into a touring bike

"Specially designed hardware attached to calliper brake mount"

That used to be the most common way to attach the front/top of a rack to a bike. A couple of decades ago. Obviously, not quite as sturdy as fittings to each seatstay.

This thread came up at the perfect time thanks for the pics that looks great! I had to take my road bike to commute last friday and that backpack was a killer. The only thing I had seen was a tubus luna or fly but that axium is similar and already has a qr adapter at just 1/8th or so the price.
Did putting the rack in there behind your caliper require moving the brake pads at all?

Looks great! I hope to receive my rack tomorrow. Who knows when I will receive my panniers though.

I received the rack last night and installed it with no troubles at all. I did have to bend the brake mount bar of the rack slightly. This is a sturdy rack and just as nice as my old blackburn. Panniers should be coming soon.

I just ordered the rack. How has it been going with the trunk bags?
