nice recumbent been wanting to test drive one of those seems like it would be nice. Though the local rei does not carry them and nor do some of the local bike shops out here. Certainly seems like they are in a niche market, though it seems it would be interesting.

I have posted this ride before but I have completed the commuter bike transformation as I just added waterproof panniers and fenders today to go along with everything else. The goal is to not need to drive in once a week to replenish supplies and also to be able to ride in wetter weather more easily.

My New Bike
I finally got my new commuter bicycle yesterday. It has an internally geared hub. So far I love it.

Wow! Goregous bike! I dig the lacing pattern on the rear hub, the brakes, the drop/flare bars. Heck. I like it all! How's it ride?

Very nice.:thumb: I like the black path racer look.
|
what kind of internal hub is that? It looks like an SRAM iMOtion 9, the same that I have on my swobo.

It's the Shimano Nexus 8 speed (also called the red band).

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3247/...2d9f230a_b.jpg Here's mine. I only just started commuting with it August 5, but I can already tell I will have many years of commuting on this bike ahead of me. It rides like a dream. My previous bike was a single-speed cruiser which I would ride to the bus stop to go to and from work, but the ride was 2 miles and space on the bus rack was never guaranteed and I was too afraid to ride all the way to work. I bought the Mariner with my economic stimulus check with the plan that if I was able to fold the bike I could take it on the bus even when the rack was full. Then I had the (probably irrational) fear that if the rack was full and the driver didn't let me take it on the bus I would be screwed, so I thought about just riding the bike the whole way to work (12 miles round-trip) and I could get some exercise as well. I have to credit bikeforums.net for giving me the courage to ride on the street even though sidewalk riding is allowed in my city (except in business districts, but there are none where I ride). I do struggle a little with the hills on my commute, but the hills keep getting easier every day. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3066/...67d187fe_b.jpg |

Yep. I have an IGH too and those bars would be perfect for my shifter, as they don't mount on my moustache.

Grim, Did you shorten the hose to the Airzound? I like where you put the tank and I am considering doing the same thing. |
Nope. I spiral wrapped it around the shifter cable till I got to the head tube and a loop on top of the frame. Wish it was black is my only complaint.

BAH: How much weight have you put on the tail end?
|
Not sure exact weight, but we've filled the bags to capacity with a costco run. No issues yet. I'm keeping a close eye on it, but so far so good. I might put some reinforcement back there eventually.

Here's my Trusty Steed. I do a minimum 23 mile, one way commute twice a week on this baby.

finaly I got photos of my commute (and main transport, and only bike). My 7-gear Rex Country
Due to size issues I will post links to them ( I might fix them but I'm to tiered right now) http://virre.sassur.net/cykeln1.png - This is just outside my door and sadly, due to the bad lighting the horrible color of the bike isn't visible but on the next it is http://virre.sassur.net/cykeln2.png - I was at a concert when I happend to snap this as I moved the camera to get a good shoot of the stage, but here you might see the color quite much better http://virre.sassur.net/gear.png - Hear is the backwheel with things on it, the backbrakes are of the type you have to pedal backwards to stop (don't know what they are called in English) hmm yes that is all |
My current commuter. Need to get some clip on fenders for the rain, i had forgotten how much spray you make without them.

Nice shots keep it interesting and that converted tandem is sight to see.
