It's a beautiful, beautiful thing. Did it come stock with the black grips and black saddle? It looks great with them, but I've only seen the Portland with the brown grips and saddle as it appears on the Trek website.

This is what I do/did keep them loose enough to get out if need be. You will be amazed at what you can do if you rely need to get out of the straps.. ;)

Yep, it came with the black saddle and bar tape. I added the PlanetBike full fenders in place of the small ones that come stock. My understanding is they abandoned the brown due to issues with getting the bar tape and saddle colors to match.

I finally have my pugsley up and running.

Specs: 22" Surly Pugsley, Shimano Alfine internal 8 speed hub, Kris Holm 29er rims, Schwalbe 29x2.4 Big Apples, Avid BB7s, OnOne Mary handlebars. Everything is in black. I call it Darth Pugsley.

Fenders and a few other accessories are on order.

I've changed a few things on my commuter/utility bike, so I figured I'd post it again. New rear rack, lights, wheels, fenders, seat, pedals, and tires. :D

But She's my commuter so I'll snap a Pic reaallll soon, with alll the pertinent stats: you know, like total mileage, origin, habitats, storage and anecdotes and maintenance(haha, surely you jest?)

Been riding and posting [1] for a while. There's a group at work that does occasional morning rides, so I'd drive into work and then ride my bike for a while. I have recently realized how silly that is, since I live in gorgeous Austin. Since I've got my older bike lying around, I decided to use it to go to work.

jaos, what an odd (in a good, refreshing way) looking bike. Nice.

The more I see that bike the more I fall in love with it. I love the green. The 09 is red and doesn't look nearly as good. I wish I had the cash to go find a 08 right now.

I posted my commuter earlier but have done some upgrades. The bike started as a standard Giant FCR 2. I added a light setup, and a rear rack with a trunk. I use the bike for rides to work, which is 12.5 miles from my home. One drawback, I found the bike to put me in a position that I became more of a wind trap then I did on the mountain bike I used before. Here she is as posted earlier.

I have added ergonomic down tubes with Tiagra brake/shifters. I also added an adjustable 120cm stem. All has worked out well except for the brakes, the bike came equipped with V-Brakes and the brake levers do not pull with the same geometry as the stock levers. I can still lock up the brakes on dry pavement but they feel a littlie spongy. I think I may add Travel agents to the brakes. The bike got a full set of cables and housings and clip less pedals also.

I had neglected this one for a bit and decided to whip walle into shape this weekend...
I adjusted the brakes, put a rear rack and basket on the back and put some lights on with a handlebar bag.

Great pictures keep appearing thansk for sharing, I was curious though, of all the cycle commuters any of them have a chain guard? Or just go with shorts everytime you ride? I have posted before but to keep in topic here it is once more, my Giant Rincon 21"

Use a velcro strap (most of them are reflective), or roll up the pant leg, or fold it down and pull the sock over it, etc.

Chain mess aside, it really sucks to get a cuff stuck in a chain & crank.

Yeah I can see how that would be annoying. As it stands my bicycle as you can see in the pic, well perhaps came with a chain guard and yet when I ride I am usually in shorts or roll up the leg. Whichever way works.
