Well, living in Los Angeles means that even though the dollar is stronger in the states, shipping wouldn't be worth it. But, we are going to Ottawa/Gatineau in November so maybe I'll get something for the bike I don't have yet :) Just went bike shopping today.

Here's mine. I took the pictures this weekend after finally getting around to washing the bike. It's a 2004 Specialized Sirrus Comp, kitted out in summer commuting trim. Around here the fenders could come off in the summer, but it's more work than it's worth.

I like, I like. Fenders come in handy when it aint raining in cases of giant puddles from sprinklers, people hosing stuff off etc.

Cool thanks, that triangle thing on the left of the rear wheel is a flag holder the previous owner had installed. Its gone now, just put a rear rack for my panniers.

I'm still Fred - but I have to admit I love the simplicity of this steel frame, single speed (flip flop hub - haven't tried it as a fixie yet) bike. Bought it used off Craigslist and rode it to work this morning. It's fast, too - but the 30 degree hill I have to deal with is a bear on this thing. Worth it for the ride the rest of the time. I confess, I love the ride of the steel frame...
Won't replace my road bike, but for commuting it is my new favorite. I'll be adding a rack for my panniers and possibly replacing the saddle.

Nice shot, nice bike but small nitpick, you cut off the bottom of the front tire in the photo.

In this case, this is an artistic device. By cutting off the bottom of the front tire like that, it creates and imbalance, creating a sense of instability or movement. The bike is moving off the front of the image--a very immediate and dynamic effect. This, I fear, you will only learn in your advanced photography class. ;-)

just got it out of the shop, they installed the fork and headset.

i went in with a threaded fork and they gave me this one and threadless for the price of the repair. surprised, but happy:)

2005 Bianchi Milano 120th Anniversary (Grey paint) with mods:
- Flat bars (MUCH improved riding position for the commute)
- Barends from my spare parts bin - great climbing and cruising position
- Topeak Explorer rack with trunk bag. No more backpack for me!
- Planet Bike fenders
- SPD mountain bike pedals (from my spare parts bin)

I initially wanted to get rid of this bike because I felt it wasn't up to the task for my commute. Once I changed out the handlebars, it became a completely different bike. It is amazing how riding position can influence a bike's "feel". Now I'm content to ride the bike until the Nexus 8 falls apart, at which time I'll build up my cyclocross commuter and use the Bianchi as a project bike.

it has one set of eyelets so i can put fenders on or a rack... though i will probably do one of those seatpost racks and just run fenders.

one thing you can't really see is the red retroreflective tape on the seatstays. i'll get some black reflective tape for the wheels too. i'll also mount my superflashes.

Since you're all commuters. Which lower cost panniers do you suggest for carrying a laptop, some manila folder with papers, and a book or two? I'm a high school teacher.

I got two for $70. You're gonna need fairly big ones for all that stuff, I wouldn't go TOO cheap with 'em.

I use this one and it's good. It will hold what you want and then some.

Bianchi Milano Commuter
 

My Bianchi Milano is a glorified cruiser bike.

Bought it a few years ago (used) with a letter from the cops indicating it was not a stolen bike. I paid $250.
I changed the seat and grips to Brooks. I added Velo orange mudflaps. Unknown rear rack. Nashbar front 6-pack rack. Frost River panniers. Ihome ih85b ipod player. A bell. PlanetBike Alias 15 watt headlight. Unknown seat post blinky and in the winter I add a couple more PlanetBike superflash units to the panniers to give a visual "SAFETY TRIANGLE." The cup holder is unknown, but has a Bianchi sticker on it.

I ride about 25 miles/day 4-5 days a week as a commuter. This is also my primary bicycle so it sees use on weekends too. In the summer, I also ride this bike downtown with the DenverCruisers. That makes for a 50 mile day on this bike.

I think this bike has 15,000+ miles on it. I had to change the tires at 10,000 miles and several tubes have been used over the years. I also oil the chain once in awhile. Otherwise, the bike has been a rock. Even the Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub has been trouble free. It was loud when I got the bike, and it hasn't gotten much louder over the years.

I plan on keeping this bike until it gets stolen or the IGH dies on it.
