The Daily Grind, parked this afternoon in front of Bubba's Place.

(amazing what Bubba can do with re-bar and horseshoes, ain't it?)

I'm in love with your bike and hope my wife doesn't read this... Wish I had kept my Marathon though, too bad yours had to go too.

It's all I had in the garage and I wanted to take it for a test ride!)

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

New budget bike for fitness, up coming charity ride, and probably some commuting too. It's a 2009 "Schwinn Fastback" I picked it up on Amazon Warehouse for $160 less then the regular price because it was an open box. It's a mix of some ok components (Sora RD & STI levers, FSA Tempo crankset, Alex R500 rims, FSA Intellaset headset), and some underwhelming Schwinn branded components.

It's also going to be my first foray into clipless off the spin bike.

Indeed, though with significant modifications. Brand is covered up because I am not necessarily proud of riding a Performance brand bicycle, but also that I think the less eye-catching a bicycle is, even if it's not a premium brand, the less likely it is to be targeted for theft.

How do you guys like those springy Brooks saddles? And how does the ride compare to the non-springed versions?

Well, I've never ridden a Brooks B17 (the same as this saddle minus the springs), so I can't speak from experience, though it certainly does have more give than my last saddle, and E3. My rationale was "why not." Bicycles used to be spec'd with this sort of saddle but it's out of fashion now. Also this is my definitive bicycle, and I use it for commuting, hauling groceries with my trailer, and touring also. If I wasn't planning on ever using it for trips longer than 10 miles, I would have just gone with the B17.

I felt a Brooks Flyer (and a B17) at the shop the other day. The surfaces were hard as rocks. I'm just not sure about that whole break-in thing. I picked up a Singleworks that has the springs in the back and I like it a lot, though. My first spring saddle.

Bikes: See my sig...

Weather is getting nicer and most of the roads are now clear and relatively dry although it is not hard to see we got some record snowfall this year.

It is nice to get out and be able to crank it up and fly just a little faster and the 26 by 2 Hurricanes on my bike were made for riding on sand and gravel which has yet to be swept up.

Sixty Fiver, you have the coolest collection of commuters.

We're in the typical Rocky Mountain springtime pattern in Utah - beautiful sunny and warm days interspersed with heavy snow.
