Bikes: 1997 Giant MB, 2011 Felt Z85 Road Bike...and searching. Why didn't anyone tell me that when you get into biking you develop a sick need to own more & more bikes!?

Here's my latest commuter bike, a Kogswell Porteur/Randonneur. I finished the build this weekend. It will eventually sport a large cargo rack on the front, instead of the mini-rack it's got now.

This is the new bicycle I recently bought after I sold my car. I told myself I would directly invest (most) money from the sale into a quality commuter bicycle and I finally got around to taking some pics of my new 2011 Novara Mainline ETA, from REI. I've added a Topeak MTX Quick-Track rack, and a Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DXP w/ panniers. The trunk bag along with the snap-in-place on rack function (quick-track) is the best thing to happen to cycling since the freewheel. I now have the best of both worlds : pannier style bags that I can fold up and out of the way if needed, and a trunk bag which I've converted into a lunch cooler that can snap on or off with the (snap) of your fingers. I take it with me in my work vehicle all day, then back on the bike when it's quitting time.
I also added Planet Bike Cascadia 45mm Hybrid/Touring fenders that really tie-in to the silver accents on the bike and offer superb protection from wet & muddy roads.
Steel chromoly frame, disc brakes, moustache handlebar w/ ergonomic cork grips, 27 speeds, 700c Vittoria Randonneur's & top quality Shimano components. All in all, I'm very happy with my new investment, even happier since I got it for clearance prices, and now I have good karma on my side because the sale of my car funded this green investment.

Good on ya! I'm starting to think about selling my car. It's 3.5 years old, has 40,000 miles on it and is almost paid for but the thermostat is stuck open and I haven't bothered dealing with it for the 6 or 8 weeks its been that way. I just came back from a 1300 mile vacation and used my motorcycle. Car mpg=34.1, motorcycle mpg=56, bicycle mpg=endless.

Here goes operation monster cross for my winter bike this year, I may have to get smaller tires to fit fenders, I tried to fit 60mm fenders and they wouldn't fit. She soon will be a proper commuter with rack and fenders once I get some tires, I can't wait to see what it looks like with the studs on.

Nashbar X build. My first drop bar bike, rolling on my first homebuilt wheels:
Built this to race 'cross, but scheduling conflicts prevented participation this year. So I mounted fenders and bought a set of studded Hakkas so that I can use it as the backup 'muter/cat 6 race bike this winter. Hopefully I won't be working weekends next fall, so that I can get out and race the bike for real.

My Ride
When I bought my house this past April I bought a bike since the house sits on a hill with other track homes I figured I better have a bike with gears. So I got this nice Trek Wahoo 29er 2012 model and I just recently added the fenders to get it set for winter since I'm in snow country.
I try to ride everyday except the last two days I didn't because on Saturday I joined the world in protest but I rode my bike 65 miles round trip and it was up hill all the way back so I was pretty sore the next day. Yesterday, the winds were gusting 40-50 miles all day long and since I was still sore I chose not to ride. But today I rode and it was great as always. I really enjoy this bike, I've also added a mirror which I always have on all my bikes and I put some ergo grips which I've had on my last two bikes. Those that haven't tried the ergo grips I highly recommend them.
Safe riding to everyone.
