Cool shot, what is the aircraft in the background?

You know what, I've never checked. I will have to look at the placard next week, I bet it says on there.

Thanks, and no. I live in Japan for now, hopefully I'll be in England next year

Yes, and if you say so...

polishmadman 03-24-13 10:15 AM

I've been there. was stationed there from 93 to 95. I bought my first mtb there. I loved that bike. I had to learn a lesson with it. I came back and someone stole it from basehousing. I still miss it. It would have been a great commuter.

RGNY 03-24-13 04:18 PM

new addition to the stable. going to be getting up earlier when the weather clears up to get more mileage in before work.

^^^ Nice ride.

RGNY 03-24-13 04:52 PM

thanks. it's the Nashbar "Famous Maker" w/ Shimano 105 ders/brifters/cassette. i replaced the generic saddle/post/stem with better stuff i had around. the frame is (reportedly) from a "major company" (likely Giant or Fuji as far as i can tell) that was a factory paint blem and passed off to Nashbar. i didn't want to spend a ton for a first roadie and $780 shipped was easier to take than around $1200 for a similar spec'ed bike with a name on it.

Nashbar!? That's so awesome!! Topped off with the Selle Italia Flite 1990, Ritchey seatpost and stem, it would not have occurred to me that you grabbed the bike from Nashbar. Sweet!!!

Good to know 10 years later people are still having the same theft issues ;) I keep my bike inside my house, soon to be hung on the wall. I live in base housing, any tips on trying to find a stud? I think I'm more likely to find a unicorn in my wall...

polishmadman 03-24-13 07:26 PM

If its older. They spaced them pretty far apart. But I hear they have a lot of new housing now. Most of what I had is gone

PatrickGSR94 03-25-13 07:32 AM

That Nashbar bike looks a lot like my Felt Z85 w/ 105 components. A lot. Even has the FSA double crank.

+1, and great deal. I'm finally learning that buying stuff from Nashbar, Bikesdirect, etc. is the way to go. I don't care about brand stickers any more

My only bicycle for the past six years. A fixed gear built around a Milwaukee Bicycle Co. frame. Yes it really is as dirty as it looks :p

Lookin' good. Funny -- color of the frame is real close to the teal color of the frame those wheels used to be on...

This bike has been posted before, but not in this final(?) form.

From my commute this AM, General Sullivan Bike/Ped bridge from Dover to Newington NH

Drive side shots:

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1364670332
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...3&d=1364670360

Closeups, leather:

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...6&d=1364670399

So, mconlonx-made and sewn-on leather grips, tt protector, chainstay protector, pedal straps.

Since last time I posted this, chainstay protector and pedal straps were added. 29r front, 26 rear Big Apple 2.35 wheels were swapped for 26f and 24r Hookworm 2.5 setup. And I ditched the bag support, going traditional with the seatbag utilizing the loops built into the saddle. Much better...

She was made for it, rain/snow is considered good weather here. :(

What handlebars are you running??

They are the bars from a Trek Zara girl's bike, but the bend is extremely similar to Soma Sparrow bars. Basically flipped "3-speed" bars. They work well for me, love the positioning, but look at all those headset spacers and the positive rise on that stem... Kinda like a very shallow drop Woodchipper style dirt drop bar.

Andy_K 03-30-13 03:54 PM

I'm rarely confident calling any of my bike builds "done" but this one is probably pretty close. I can at least say there's nothing about it that I want to change right now.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8544/8...df3b40f9_c.jpg

I love the look of leather, but I also like to leave my bikes out in the rain and not have to do maintenance on the saddle, so the Charge Spoon with Salsa cork tape gets me a happy compromise.
