I've been there. was stationed there from 93 to 95. I bought my first mtb there. I loved that bike. I had to learn a lesson with it. I came back and someone stole it from basehousing. I still miss it. It would have been a great commuter.

new addition to the stable. going to be getting up earlier when the weather clears up to get more mileage in before work.

^^^ Nice ride.

thanks. it's the Nashbar "Famous Maker" w/ Shimano 105 ders/brifters/cassette. i replaced the generic saddle/post/stem with better stuff i had around. the frame is (reportedly) from a "major company" (likely Giant or Fuji as far as i can tell) that was a factory paint blem and passed off to Nashbar. i didn't want to spend a ton for a first roadie and $780 shipped was easier to take than around $1200 for a similar spec'ed bike with a name on it.

If its older. They spaced them pretty far apart. But I hear they have a lot of new housing now. Most of what I had is gone

That Nashbar bike looks a lot like my Felt Z85 w/ 105 components. A lot. Even has the FSA double crank.

Nashbar!? That's so awesome!! Topped off with the Selle Italia Flite 1990, Ritchey seatpost and stem, it would not have occurred to me that you grabbed the bike from Nashbar. Sweet!!!

My only bicycle for the past six years. A fixed gear built around a Milwaukee Bicycle Co. frame. Yes it really is as dirty as it looks :p

This bike has been posted before, but not in this final(?) form.
From my commute this AM, General Sullivan Bike/Ped bridge from Dover to Newington NH http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...9&d=1364670304 Drive side shots: http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...2&d=1364670347 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1364670332 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...3&d=1364670360 Closeups, leather: http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...5&d=1364670385 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...4&d=1364670375 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...6&d=1364670399 So, mconlonx-made and sewn-on leather grips, tt protector, chainstay protector, pedal straps. Since last time I posted this, chainstay protector and pedal straps were added. 29r front, 26 rear Big Apple 2.35 wheels were swapped for 26f and 24r Hookworm 2.5 setup. And I ditched the bag support, going traditional with the seatbag utilizing the loops built into the saddle. Much better... |

I'm rarely confident calling any of my bike builds "done" but this one is probably pretty close. I can at least say there's nothing about it that I want to change right now.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8544/8...df3b40f9_c.jpg I love the look of leather, but I also like to leave my bikes out in the rain and not have to do maintenance on the saddle, so the Charge Spoon with Salsa cork tape gets me a happy compromise. |
