I like the bike. I like the bell. How did you come by the bell?

went casual all week, when you ride to work pee wee herman style even the recumbent riders look at you funny.

Fun though, and the fat tires have been a blessing due to all the ice chunks in the bike path, and the relaxed posture makes it easy to get a leg down quick when the tires do slide.

next week if the roads get a bit better it will be back to the long route and the real commuter.

Later this winter I'll probably switch out the two Monkeylectric lights for a single MiniMonkey, when it becomes available. Eventually I'd like to swap out all of the silver components for black, but for now everything is dialed and I'm done messing with it, so I can just ride.
Dude, do you go crushing junk cars with that thing, because it's monster truck.

and a +1 on the LOTR bike name reference.
The first four bikes that I've bought/built were named Fatty Lumpkin, Asfaloth, Bill the Pony, and Oliphaunt. The roadie was going to be Ancalagon, as I'd originally planned to build it up all black, but that didn't play out and now I'm kind of over naming bikes. BTW, you appear to be parked upside down.

Which? The teapot bell on the Trek I found at REI, the steerer mount bell on the Nashbar I ordered from Universal Cycles, I believe.

It's almost heavy enough... but naw, for technical automotive destruction I think I'd want one of these:

Not mine, but a classmate's, spotted at the rack today. I'd love to have one, although preferably not so pink.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing. My only bike is a 7.3 FX and I treat it as if it were a carbon road bike. That's just my nature though. I rarely itch for the newest thing out there. Rather, I develop strong attachments to machines that have served me well.

I love this forum. I'm getting around to posting pictures of my bikes.
What do I need to instal on my computer to see the pics that are showing up as a little blue square with a question mark in it?

I am going to take a stab at it and say that those are really old posts for whom pictures no longer exist. So other than a time machine, I'm afraid there is no way to get them back.

I also applaud your patience if you really did start reading from number 1, all 9117 posts and several years ago.

I got the same bell - they're availavle at several sources on ebay. They're loud too. Well, on second look, mine is larger than the other one - but cool bells are easy to find

I commute on a cruiser. Granted I made it a 6 speed and have slick on it but its a great way to go. And you are right people look at you funny when you go on a cruiser.

Tressostar orange cotton bar tape, with a few coats of amber shellac. It used to be more reddish, but the shellac has faded and it's more orange-y now.

New bars/stem/levers/shifters:

Still dialing in the controls' positions, but it's pretty darn comfy.
