hey, thanks. and yep, they clipped all the cables. seat/tires/frame were locked well so they went after the only unsecured parts. hell, i even lock my rack.

Just an update as I have replaced almost everything on this bike. Nearly every part came from dutch bike bits. The headlight is a Busch & Müller Lumotec IQ Cyo that is run off a bottle dynamo and it is great. It is about as bright as the trek ion6 I use as a backup.

And in case it's lost on anyone I live in the united states. VERY hard to find a bicycle like this here and even harder to get parts.

Finally got some photos of my commuter, a '91 Miyata Quickcross. Got it for <$100 off Craigslist, and some parts bin swaps, new tires, and a tune up later, it's good to go. The tires are Resist Nomad in 700x35c, but they measure out at 33mm. I was hoping they'd be more true to marked width, but it's fine by me.

And a shot of the handlebars for those curious. I'm liking the trekking bars and just below saddle height is pretty comfortable for me. They're wrapped with a layer of Fizik bar gel near the levers (had it lying around), and the rest of it is wrapped in Soma Thick and Zesty bar tape. My local shop had to get a little bit creative with the cable routing to accommodate the bar and stem change.

my bike weighs a metric tonne now so i know what you mean. the bike itself isn't light, plus 2 locks/rack/loaded panniers... ugh

I started working at an athletic apparel company (9 miles one way) and asked my manager if I could bring my bike inside on days I commute by said bicycle versus locking it up outside. She said, "We're an athletic company, of course you can bring it inside." Well I take it down to the basement and to my delight, sitting there looking all lonely is a Park Tool bike stand begging to be used. My manager informs me that the bike stand was left there by the previous tenant and asks me if I want it. Life is good.

When i first got it, it was roughly 23.8 pounds.. now its 29 LOL.... but man is it worth the convenience it brings!

And what is that attached to the seat stays near the Giant decal -- is it locking the rear wheel?

But I really can't take my eyes off those loose wires. Aren't they a problem? Is there enough play for the one that runs up from the fork to get sucked into the spokes on a windy day?

Here's my new commuter, to replace the one destroyed in my accident. i decided I needed a bike that would give me escape routes, such as over the curb, on the shoulder, or into the ditch if necessary, and this is what I found. A Talon 29er, Produced by the Giant corporation as a Weapon of Moss Destruction, this bike stares down traffic and says, "I did your mom...backdoor...because she asked nicely." The frame was forged by Chuck Norris from the hardest substance known to man, his johnson. Seismologists register a decrease in the rotation of the earth any time it's brakes are applied. Now sporting street shoes and shiny fenders, she is a commuting armageddon. If you encounter this bike on the road, your only defense is to show it pictures of frolicking kittens. That is its only weakness. You have been warned.

Here's my new old mtb/winter bike with my usual rubermaid container and a new cat liter container/pannier , I made myself 2 studded tires that I can't wait to try

my 2012 salsa fargo 3.so far ive swapped out the bar end shifters for tiagra sti's,which meant i had to change the front deraileur to a sora,and i changed the cranks out for a deore xt set.wheelset with a dynohub and light setup is in the works.

I like your platforms, what are they and where available? Big tall folks like me would love that large pedal

speedplay drillium.i got mine at endless cycles in castro valley but you can find them online for around 75 bucks or so.i got them for winter riding in my waterproof wolverines..nice fat platform works great in boots.
