Thanks. I'm really happy with the options I took. The dynohub and light combination works above expectation, and the take-offs worked out well once I fitted a rapid-rise rear derailleur. I'm still stunned at how comfy the LHT ride is;of course, it helps it's not the too-small alumunium compact frame racer I had before.

Very cool bike. I've been on a borrowed xtracycle for the past week and it was a very fun bike. Handled much better than I expected and of course could carry a ton of stuff.

Very nice, looks like it carries every and the kitchen sink if necessary. ;)

58cm crosscheck with stuff on it. used to be a fixed gear, but grandpaw couldn't handle the hilly commute no more.

Sorry. I do like the bike, a lot. In fact, I have thought seriously about a BikeFriday tandem. I think it would be great to fly somewhere, unpack your bike and ride away with the suitcases making a trailer. I've never had a folding bike but I am sure there is one in my future.

That would be fun to do with the wife, no doubt. Provence by tandem bike, that'd be sweet.

I got the bike on Saturday, figuring I'd be able to go without the accessories, but I was wrong. I got tired of getting sprayed in the face by gravel flying out of the stock Tioga tires. I changed tires to something more suited for the road, but with some tread on there to handle a little bit of loose stuff and rain. The fenders were a must with it coming into the rain here in the PNW, and with showers a questionable thing at work, I'd rather not show up speckle-faced.

Top speed so far: 44.0MPH blowing by cars coming down Fairgrounds Rd. heading towards 303 in East Bremerton.

Here is my relatively new build up. I usually ride it fixed and with panniers for the commute. This machine is pretty much the real deal. Nishiki Cresta GT frame, Nitto moustache with cloth tape and twine whipping instead of electrical tape, velocity deep V - 32 3X on formula high flange hubs, 7410 DA crankset, Brooks Team Pro, MEC 40L panniers, incredibell,etc, etc. Steel is Real!

Very nice looking rig, should get many happy miles out of that one. I myself am waiting on a GT frame from the 90's to show up from fedex today. I just hope the frame is not damaged. If so, No biggie, the whole thing was like 18 dollars including shipping.

Here is "Bones," one year old this month, outside my place of work. I am constantly tweaking things (even the ergonomic grips replaced the silicon cylindrical ones, just yesterday, for hand pain/numbness). No flats, even regularly going over some horrible trash / nails/ broken glass, until a valve broke this weekend.

I usually fit everything I need in the trunk, not really having needed to drop the mini-panniers to use yet.

Alas, I rear-ended a car in August - talk about embarrassing! - and tweaked the front end of the Miyata in the collision. The frame could no longer be considered safe to ride, so I had to purchase a new bicycle. I scraped together some funds, borrowed some dough from my parents, salvaged as many parts as I could from the old bicycle and went down to the LBS and ordered a Surly Long Haul Trucker! The LHT is intended to perform the same duties as the old Miyata in supporting my car-free lifestyle. It's not as pretty as my old Miyata, but it's an amazing ride. It's a 30 lb unstoppable tank of a bike, and I love it. It rides like it's on rails and just soaks up rough pavement. Tons of clearance for big tires and fenders, and I'm sure it'll haul any load with aplomb and style. I'll be replacing that beat-up old saddle with a Brooks B-17 real soon, probably this weekend. This color really needs to be seen in bright sunlight to be fully appreciated - it sparkles and gleams. It really looks incredible. It is a bit dull in dimmer light. Next time I wrap the handlebars, I intend to give it a bit more "flash."

Random gratuitous drivetrain shot! Deore derailer on an 8-speed cassette. That huge cog in the back there is a 34-tooth. Useful for hauling a full load of groceries up the ginormous hill I live near!
