My only complaint is that mine doesn't have rear rack eyelets on the seat stays---a pretty glaring omission considering the intended market. I bought some attachment that hooks up the rack to the seatpost---doesn't look so elegant, but works fine. I hear they added the eyelets in later models. Anyhow, I too love those hubs. Happy rides!

Believe me, I liked the R500. I just realized that I really had my heart set on the Tricross. It's funny because the Tricross has eyelets on the seatstays but I don't use them as you may be able to tell. The rack I have mounts to the brake bosses. Of course if you mean you don't have any lower eyelets for the rear rack, that would be an annoyance.

My bike doesn't have it's bags on, which is a Topeak bag with extendable Panniers, that hold 1500 cubic inches. Enough for me.

jimmuter 12-22-06 06:42 PM

Nice bike. I came really close to buying a Transfer just because it's so darn useful looking. I couldn't justify it with my current bikes, but I do love the looks of it. Kudos to anyone who builds a bike specifically for commuting.

Here are some pictures of my rebuilt commuter that I took today on a ride. :D

Yay! It worked this time!

Mazaev 12-29-06 12:46 PM

'06 novara bonanza, subtitled "way too much stuff on this bike". weight is not an issue, as riding this bike to work five days a week since may has caused me to loose 50 pounds.

Wow, I just realized I hadn't posted a picture of the bike I've been commuting on the most, my Nishiki. This has quickly become my favorite bike.

All tricked out with Pedals and Rack. Very comfy ride for a 40 mile round trip commute.

Would someone please tell me (in painstaking detail) how to post pix in BF?
Thanks

manual_overide 12-31-06 08:41 PM

you either need to upload the pictures to a host like imageshack and post the link to the picture here using [img] tags, or use the manage attachments button underneath the post window (don't use quick post)

michaelalanjone 12-31-06 08:59 PM

Mine is a 1992 Schwinn High Plains MTB

Today I shined up my "rain bike" commuter and then shot a few pics. It's an '03 Klein Attitude V with a Brooks Champion
Flyer saddle, Planet Bike fenders, Topeak Moonshine HID headlight, Specialized Nimbus 26x1.5 tires, Trek Disco Inferno
tail light, a Blackburn Mars 3.0 tail light and a Planet Bike brake light. This is my third winter commuting on it. It's a pretty
sweet ride. About 2000 miles showing on the Trek Incite cyclometer...

Man, that bike is too pretty to take out in the rain! Love that paint job.

Very sweet. Can the wheels actually turn under those fenders? If so, bravo! They look excellent.

Believe it or not they can. It's actually not as close as it looks, but in a couple of spots it is. If it's really nasty outside, I ride my beat up Mongoose.

jonathan180iq 01-06-07 10:21 PM

Here's mine. Some of you may remember my Schwinn World Sport. I just upgraded on the 5th. It's a TREK Jetta that I've made some simple tweaks to in an attempt to set it up for my road commute.

cervelo dual

this is my main commuter for the moment.
my ride is 40 miles roundtrip in mostly heavy urban LA traffic.
all early factory spec Cervelo Dual 2006,
speedplay pedals
longer scott stem
xlab saddle wing
cateye double cadence

http://www.bikespace.net/largeImages/831463182.jpg
I've put about 2800 miles on it last year between spring and winter.

the geometry is steep but necessary for the type of training i do specific to triathlon.
It also makes it easy to walk around the office after a hard ride, or do a 10K.

I've since added:
another foldup/tube kit,
removed the downtube water bottlecage
added a rattlecannned profile aero drink
wrapped the frame with duct tape, stickers and some race numbers
dropped the base bars a bit
angled the aerobars for more leverage

I'm about to build another racer/commuter to retire this^ one to a long ride and race bike only.

After that I'll upgrade for some a HED 3's

Nice looking bike. Not the typical choice for commuters.

My question: WTF is that can of WD40 doing next to such a nice bike?

Those fenders look great, what typ are they, they look like Hondos. I have been searching for a nice set of fenders that will fit on my Ciocc road bike
that is outfitted with 105 brakes; there isn't much room, these ones look like they might fit the bill.

My 2007 Raleigh One-Way. I've had this bike since September but have just got it into the correct shape to post on this forum (got older pics in SS/FG)
Changes/Additions include
Brooks Pro, Nitto moustache bar, NightRider evolution smart, PB superflash, Blackburn expedition rack, Jandd mini mountain panniers, Time atac alums. I also changed out the stock fenders for SKS cromo plastics after and incident of "boss tripping over bike" (he bought the new ones:) )

This is a very fun bike, rides like a truck. You have not experienced momentum until you have had 40+lbs of fixed-gear between your legs!

I'll say it again -- that's a nice bike Josh. I was doubtful of the Jandd panniers, but they look pretty sharp. I'll look forward to seeing it on the Tour de Bagel or whatever Sunday morning ride you come up with.

StokerPoker 01-08-07 03:26 PM

yes, I know this is a lame joke, but I don't care.... Josh, if it's a "one way" how do you get home? ;) sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanks, they are Berthoud fenders I got from Wallingford Bike. I promise you there really isn't as much room as it appears to be in the picture. This bike originally had 27" wheels and now has 700cc, and the fenders still fit that closely even with all that extra room.

My two main bikes, usually use the Specialized for light touring and bad weather, just set up the Cannondale with racks will try to find fenders.

some stuff: 26" rear wheel, 29er front (26 with studs on the snowy days), 20w mr11 and 10w mr11 12volt in front, night rider 19led 12volt rear, surly bars, some pedals, and so on.

Elton 01-08-07 11:18 PM

That Nishiki is awsome. So is that tandem looking one directly above. Here is my beater. I'm looking for a rigid fork with disk or canti tabs on it, then I'll most likely be throwing on a ritchey drop bar set up that's kicking around in my shed. Also, some 1 .25" street tires.http://www.esnips.com/imageable/larg...f-2ecddbbdd783
