hopefully he was talking big
but for safety sake you might consider skipping that section for a few days while cools off
that's pretty cool that the cops ACTUALLY showed up
they're so reluctant do do anything if an actual CRIME hasn't been committed
what about what you told them do you think clinched the deal in having them show up?
dude, how many days a week do you work?

I haven't posted for ages.....apart from commuting around Dublin, I haven't been on the bike in any serious way since doing the étape in France last July ! So I cycled into work tonight, a route I've done so often, but there was freezing fog and as it turned out slippy roads, so coming downhill to a bridge I touched the breaks to slow slightly and the bike just slid - I've often spoke to friends that even though I wear a helmet, I've never banged by head off a bike - well I whacked the back of my helmet full force on the road, I got up OK and the bike was a bit twisted but OK too.
The helmet is cracked, but it really saved me !!!

keep an eye on your head
too bad about the bike
toss the helmet cuz you can't use it now
ice stinks but studded tires are a slow nuisance

fortunately, a normal uneventful ride in this morning and a really quiet, nice ride home tonight. I did not see my "friend".

Tonight's commute sucked...
It was raining, the last bus of the night had two bikes on it already (two being the max anyway). I was 10 miles from home. I was nearly hit by a driver who failed to stop at the stop sign (I had stopped and yielded to the car in front of that one). Parts of the trail that I ride was under 20(ish) inches of water. When I got to the end of the trail, I tried to get up to the sidewalk (so I could cross a busy street) and lost it.
The nice thing is that the rain softened the earth, so I only sunk in about 6 inches when I hit the ground.
I was covered in mud, soaked, and now I hurt...
Hell of a night!

It is January, right? 5am, 61 freaking degrees when I got on the bike. Made the crazy gusty winds and drizzle more bearable at least, was riding through a load of water the whole way in. Have to watch the vehicle traffic, they're sure not looking for me in weather like this. All in all a nice ride, but certainly not one I'd expect at the end of January!

It was a very nice warm ride in at 50 F ( 10 C ). Even the heavy rain and wind was not a problem. I know it is only a tease, but it does feel
like and early spring day. Traffic was heavier, which usually happens when it is warm early in the morrning.

great - cooler heads prevail
I drove but at lest I got back in the pool. 1500 meters in less than 50 minutes which is good for me. weight training tomorrow; then out of town for work, so hoping to bike Thursday.

I got lucky this morning. Forecast was for a lot of rain, but it wasn't raining at all. Temps in the 40s.
I wound up unzipping my jacket about halfway through the ride, and eventually I removed my gloves, too.
There's a lot of nasty ice on the MUP (and my driveway) now. Big rain still inbound to this area, so hopefully it will wash that ice away.

We had a bunch of storms overnight but the showers appeared to be past when I got up. The weather forecast called for morning storms and warm temps (60s F) with clear skies this afternoon, so I decided to go for it. I checked the radar, and there appeared to be a nice "window" in the showers, so I headed to work at 6:30 am with just a light jersey and vest. Of course, a half-mile from my house it started raining pretty heavy, so I headed back home. The radar was still showing no rain over the city, so I put on my rain coat and headed out again. It rained lightly off and on the whole way to work, but not enough to get my feet wet. Hopefully the afternoon commute will make it worthwhile as the weather is supposed to be sunny and warm. It was already 60 F at 6 am, but I rode into a stiff headwind all the way to work.

Nice ride in today, 37 degrees and a light breeze. Supposed to be 15 - 25 mph winds this evening and high of 47. No rain for the next 3 days, I'm smiling the Cheshire smile!

Gorgeous this morning, but chilly at about 40° F. We've got a break in the storms, so it was sun shiny and not a cloud in the sky, and traffic was gentle.
Riding back from the store yesterday I was waiting for a delivery truck to go past me so I could cross the road. As he passes me, he lays on his air horn. Nothing like startling a cyclist, I guess!

WET...again. It's been almost 2 weeks of rain, with some good typhoon leftovers thrown in there for good measure. I love the rain, and what it does for our very Mediterranean environment up here...but it would be nice to see the sun again. On another note, I need to get contact lenses. Riding with fogged up, rain splattered glasses is not safe.

Is it May or is it January? 61 this morning. Absolutely insane. SHorts and a couple t-shirts for the morning commute on 1/25... whodathunkit?
Just caught the beginning of a rain shower at the VERY end of my commute. By next week, I'll be praying for rain (new fenders should be on by then!)

EKW ~ I rode a bike with no fenders yesterday and got wet and dirty. I feel for you man. you're gonna love having fenders. just butch them up and put these on them:

getting ready to ride yesterday I dressed for 1 temp then decided to check the current temp on the internet and had to redress! ugh. getting cold again later in the week -don't get caught without an extra layer in your trunk!

rumrunn -
Love the idea of some Yosemite Sam mud flaps. Awesome. New accessory idea for Planet Bike - customizable Cascadia mud flaps.
Have a jacket in my trunkjust in case I need it, but it's supposed to still be in the 50s by the time I leave. Nothing so cold that a couple minutes of pedaling can't overcome.

I hear ya. yesterday I tried to ventilate the best I could (while eating lunch in my office) before riding home without the benefit of changing my base layer for a new dry one. fortunately It was warm enough (though damp) and I generated enough heat to make it home just fine. amazing what temps over 30 can do for ya!

Today's commute was wet. It looks to be even wetter for the ride home.

Nice easy ride in. Tried a new route which is very satisfactory, and caught a letup in the rain. Underdressed for a cold ride on Saturday, and overcompensated to the point of squelchiness today. Not that it matters.

Car issues, so I drove in, but will ride home. Hopefully the rain will have passed by then too.

Perfect day in Austin to be on the bike! I did run into one thing, actually two that were unexpected...
